CIFS files with owner field blank
Hi
I have a ReadyNAS Pro Business Edition running 4.20. One of the users (windows XP machine) occasionally seems to be able to create files and directories that have no owner. That is, the owner field is completely blank. This leaves the file / directory in a state that is inaccessable using windows explorer.
I have tried using the share/advanced options to set ownership / permissions to all files but this does not fix the problem.
How can I recover from this?

Re: CIFS files with owner field blank
How have you tried using the set ownership and permissions to all files?
Have you tried placing the ownership and permissions to "nobody" and "nogroup" (without quotes)?
When you are performing the above, make sure that you are checking the box that says "set ownership and permissions to the above...."

Re: CIFS files with owner field blank
Hi, I just tried what you suggested and set the owner to 'nobody' rather than the name of the share which is the default value. This appears to have fixed the problem.
Thanks
