CPU fan speed stuck at 4218rpm
Hi,
The CPU fan seems to be stuck at 4218 & 3515 rpm. Not sure how long it's been like this but at least a week.
Room temp = 23c
CPU = 45
System = 55
Disk1 = 38
Disk2 = 38
Disk3 = 37
Disk4 = 39
Disk5 = 40
Disk6 = 37
Fan setting = Quiet
File search = disabled
Antivirus - enabled
System fan = 958rpm

Re: CPU fan speed stuck at 4218rpm
It's on 6.9.2 with 6x6TB disks.
I'd forgotten about my signature as it doesn't show on my PC. Hopefully I've updated it and can bee seen by someone, I can't see it in my posts though.

Re: CPU fan speed stuck at 4218rpm
Sounds like a configuration error. If you have SSH enabled, please post the contents of ./etc/sensors.d/system.conf.

Re: CPU fan speed stuck at 4218rpm
I ran 6.9.1 and currently run 6.9.2 on my PRO 6 coming from 6.5.0 and I have to say that the fans never worked better than with 6.9.x.
This is not an immediate help to resolve your problem, but I thought I share this.

Re: CPU fan speed stuck at 4218rpm
That's the normal content.
I think you may have one of the Pro's that has the 3-pin CPU fan connected to the I/O board instead of the 4-pin one connected to the main board. Another user reported a problem with that configuration. Did you have to run a special fan patch when you had OS 4.2.x? If so, then that's it. Apparently, Netgear forgot about that version somewhere in updating OS6. It is unsupported, after all.
See this thread for the likely fix: CPU-fan-stuck-on-full-speed-on-upgraded-x86-OS6-pro-business.
It's a shame this forum software lacks a decent search function and you can't easily find such things yourself. (Hint, Hint to the Netgear powers that be -- this forum software STINKS.)
Before editing the file, you should make a copy (using a name that does not end in .conf) to make it easier to go back. And if you still have a leftover pro6-fan.conf from an older version, you may need to delete or rename it, too.

Re: CPU fan speed stuck at 4218rpm
The CPU fan is conected to the main board (4 pins). It takes about 20 minutes for the fan to get to full speed.
I don't think I did that patch.
I do have a pro6-fan.conf file.
