Cannot find a way to extract files locally.
Hi Guys,
Sorry if the question is posted in the wrong section but i would really appreciate some assistance please.
I am a very new user of the ReadyNas product and most probably am not even using it to half its potential, so may have more questions to come, but the pressing issue i have is that i am unable to find a way(on this forum or by searching google) to locally unrar files on my ultra 2.
I am using pyload to download files which unrar successfully using the plugin most of the time however if a file fails and i have to download it again i cannot get the unrar feature to start again and must do this over the network which is horribly slow via wireless if a large file and forces me to plug in to the LAN.
Does anyone have a solution to the by way of addon or other method? I am only semi competent using the front end and have no idea how to use the back end but will give it a go as there is only one way to learn.
If i need to provide further information about my setup please don't hesitate to ask.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys,
Eldon.

Re: Cannot find a way to extract files locally.
Unless the addon works, I guess you'd have to do it via SSH and unrar it locally in the command line interface. This will ofc make you learn linux, and how to operate with commands.
If you have to resort to this solution, you need an addon called EnableSSH installed so you can SSH into your NAS. Keep in mind that some Netgear techies might refuse to aid you, if this is turned on

Re: Cannot find a way to extract files locally.
I think Slasky means EnableRootSSH.
Using the command line just to do things like unrar files would be fine so long as you do it in one of your shares not on the OS partition.
If you accidentally delete files or something like that via SSH then support would be unable to help with that.

Yes, what mdgm said, it's called EnableRootSSH 😛 Been a while since I've used it myself really.
Good luck to you anyway 🙂
