Cant access shares via Explorer but via Total Commander...
Hi!
I've got a very strange problem accessing my media shares on my Readynas Ultra 4 with Radiator 4.2.24.
The media shares doesn't have any permissions on them, full access to all.
I'm accessing the shares from a Windows 7 64-bit SP1 Ultimate Edition, all security patches applied.
If I'm using Windows Explorer I get an error message "can't access \\Readynas\media\photos"
The shares that is mapped to a network drive doesn't work either.
I can see the Readynas in the network.
If I'm using Total Commander then I can access the media shares if using UNC path.
The mapped drives isn't working in Total Commander.
It doesn't matter using IP address or using network name, same result.
Doesn't work in Windows Explorer, works with Total Commander.
Name resoltion for Reaynas is done with the hosts file on PC.
I'm also using Logitech Media Server on the Readynas and it works like a charm...
Any suggestions what has happened?
Best Regards
/Rickard

I've also tested to turn off the Windows firewall, didn't help.
Uninstalled and reinstalled "File and printer sharing", didn't help.
Anyone having any suggestions?

Re: Cant access shares via Explorer but via Total Commander.
It seems to me that total commander must be using different credentials (logon/password) than Windows explorer.
Have you looked at the Windows Credentials Manager (in the control panel)?

Re: Cant access shares via Explorer but via Total Commander.
Hi!
I'm not setting any credentials in Total Commander, just typing in the unc path to the shares.
I'm quite sure that Total Commander uses my Windows credentials when logging in, just like Windows Explorer...
Must say that this problem puzzles me quita a bit.
I'm having another Windows / Media PC and that machine don't have this problem...

What happens if you set credentials in the credentials manager?

Hi!
I added \\readynas\media to Credential Manager with right credentials but got the same error message as before...

I think you should have added readynas, not the path. Try admin as the user name, with the Readynas password.

Re: Cant access shares via Explorer but via Total Commander.
This is so strange...
By the way, I tried just using readynas as host but it didn't help.
Today I discovered that Windows backup that's doing scheduled backups of my computer have no problem to access the NAS and store the backups there.
There's no problem to delete old backups either...

Finally solved the problem!
NetBIOS over TCPIP wasn't on...
Now it works as it should again!
