Change ReadyNAS duo v2 disk space

For long time ago I tested my ReadyNAS duo with a disk 160GB, and it worked. Then I installed a 2TB drive into slot 2 and let it be synced as X-raid. After that replaced 160GB by a 2TB disk. And I used NAS a while for backups.

Now I saw that it only use 146GB for data and its full!

How to solve it so all disk space is used?

RAIDiator 4.1.16

BTW tried to upgrade to 5.3.13 but it didn't want to load the file. To low disk space??

Let's clarify this first:  You have the original Duo (not the Duo v2). 

The original Duo

• runs 4.1.x firmware
• says ReadyNAS Duo on the front panel
• often has a RND4000v2 label on the back.

Despite that label on the back, it is the original Duo (called a v1 here).

By contrast, the Duo v2 

• runs 5.3.x firmware
• says ReadyNAS Duo v2 on the back label.

The firmware couldn't be loaded because it was for the wrong platform.

It should have expanded to 2 TB RAID-1, but clearly did not.

I think the best thing is to do a factory default - that will reformat the disks, and it should use the full capacity.  The downside is that you will need to back up the data if you want to keep it, and restore it after the NAS is set up again.

You can do this via the boot menu, but it is a bit simpler to do it from the web ui.  Here's a screenshot of the right page in the web ui (system->update).  It's taken from a Pro-6, but it is in the same on your Duo:

The Duo always shipped with RAIDiator 4, so I don't think using that add-on will achieve anything.

If a reboot or two doesn't trigger expansion then the factory default (wipes all data, settings, everything) option I s probably the only option.

Was that add-on all the way back in RAIDiator 3.x?  I can't tell by the file date, as I did something wrong and all the dates got updated to current back when I changed main NASes in 2016.

The timestamp inside the bin says it was created on August 4, 2007.

From the description and download location, it looks like it is a Raidiator 4.0 app intended to force expansion of XRAID volumes originally created on Raidiator 3.x.

Success!

I did upload the ForseExpansion.

When doing the required reboot of  NAS It was a check box about Check volume or disk(?). I tick it and reboot. And now it works!

Perhaps it was the check proceedure, or both to make it work.

Either way, it's expanded.

BTW, 2 TB is the largest disk size your NAS can handle.
