Duo unreachable
Hi,
Got a "Resync recommended" message from my first generation Duo some days ago and performed a resync according to instructions. It disappeared after that and I cannot reach it any more and RAIDar can't find it. Restarted it (the hard way) and it showed up in RAIDar while booting but then went away again and stays that way. What can I do?

Re: Duo unreachable
Well no, the ReadyNAS is what I use to backup my Macs at home. It is not backed up itself...

Re: Duo unreachable
If it is only used for backup, then perhaps losing the data on it is not a big deal. If that's your situation, then you can simply do a factory reset as described on page 15 here: http://www.readynas.com/download/docume ... 6Dec11.pdf You'll need to completely rebuild the NAS from scratch if you do a reset. All data is lost, and all settings (including admin password) is reset.
If you'd prefer to avoid that, and If you have access to a windows PC you can also try extracting data from disk 1 with linux reader ( http://www.diskinternals.com/linux-reader/)
Or you could try powering down, and removing disk 1, and see if it boots then. If that fails, then power down, re-insert disk 1, and remove disk 2. If that fails, perhaps try the OS reinstall procedure (also on page 15 of the v1 hardware manual).
Also, it is possible you have a bad disk. Did you have email alerts configured, and have you periodically checked the disk health?

Re: Duo unreachable
Yes, it was one of the two disks that reports a failure, if I remove it the other one works as expected.
Are there any diagnostics/troubleshooting/repair tools available to check what's wrong with it? I have no suiting disk chassis available otherwise I could put the disk in it and hook it to my Mac for diagnostics. The disk is not that old so I'd like to save it before I throw it away...

Re: Duo unreachable
If you are up now get a new disk and insert it with the nas running. It's best not to delay.
Also back up as much data as you can.
The disk you removed has almost certainly failed. If it's still under warranty you can rma it to the manufacturer, otherwise just discard it.
