Endless resync of 104 after drive replacement

I have a ReadyNAS 104, accessed via a Windows 7 machine and a Windows 10. Firmware is 6.5.1. I attempted to expand it with a third drive, however that came up with errors (sectors reallocated) so I removed it. The NAS is now resyncing, and has been doing so for over 24 hours. This was fine until it reached 99.3%, at which point it froze and the time to complete began to climb. When it was over 300 hours I tried to restart but the shutdown process seemed similarly endless. I finally did a hard reboot, but it's once more stuck at the same point. There's nothing writing to it, but accessing the files is extremely slow and drops out regularly.

Any advice?

I've reformatted the drives and they're working fine now

Is your backup up to date?

I'd very much prefer to resolve this without wiping the drives, if that's what you mean.

Can you send in your logs (see the Sending Logs link in my sig)?

Something else that I've noticed - it says RAID 5 on the volume screen, though there are only two drives in place. My understanding is that RAID 5 requires three or more? Could this be an issue? I have a drive I can add if it might help.

The status log by itself doesn't tell me much whereas if the download of the logs zip file had worked that would have provided much more useful information.

So do you have an up to date backup of your data?

You may wish to contact support on this one.

How have you got on?

Something else you may want to try is ReadyNASOS 6.5.2-T500 (Beta 2) (there is a fix in that which may be relevant).
