Error : Duplicate file already exists ReadyNAS 102

Hi guys and gals,

For the last few weeks ive been getting the following error come up.

When ever i try to copy any file over to my NAS i get the following error.

nas1.png

Click on replace and it just sits like this.

 nas2.png

When you delete files, it looks like its gone, but refresh and the file is back. I have full permissions on the folders. Nothing has changed my end. no updates.

I've logged into the admin web page and deleted it just comes back.

I've enabled SSH, delete the files and they just come back.

Any idea what i can do to fix this ? ReadyNas 102

Re: Error : Duplicate file already exists ReadyNAS Duo v2

Hi wifiuk,

Try to reset the share permissions, set R/W and anonymous access of the affected folders or shares and see if that fixes the problem encountered. Steps are available here and check pages 34-35.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,

Re: Error : Duplicate file already exists ReadyNAS Duo v2

Did the permissions fix work? I am having the same issue when copying items to the USB 3.0 drives connected to my ReadyNAS Duo. I tried adjusting the permissions and made sure the drives were not configured for "Read Only" without results. When copying a file to an empty folder I get the "file already exists" message even though the folder is new and empty. If I choose to skip or ignore the folder gets a 0kb file inserted named the same as the file I am trying to copy. I have an auto-parser that migrates files for me and it lacks the capability to override and replace the non-existant "ghost files". Any thoughts on a resolution?

Re: Error : Duplicate file already exists ReadyNAS Duo v2

6.5.2,

Running Windows 10 Anniversary on the PCs that connect if that makes any difference, too.

The only thing that changed recently was the addition of a new router/gateway when we switched internet providers.  But I don't get the transfer error when trying to move files to the NAS's internal folders, just moving from things to the USB3.0 drives.

One of these is wrong (likely the first).  There is no Duo that runs OS 6. Can you provide your NAS model (possibly a RN102, RN202, RN212, RN312)

How is the USB drive formatted?

Looks like there is no/very little data on your NAS?

Can you send in your logs (see the Sending Logs link in my sig)?

Re: Error : Duplicate file already exists ReadyNAS 102

Correct, most of my data was already on the USB 3.0 drives and I am waiting to upgrade the drives in the NAS to larger ones but had to toss in my 2TB drives to set it up so it acts as the middle man before my pictures and other media are sorted into the folders on the external devices. I sent the logs according to your directions. Please let me know what else may help.

Re: Error : Duplicate file already exists ReadyNAS 102

Have you tried disabling IPv6?

Well normally we wouldn't recommend this, but seeing there is next to no data on the NAS you might wish to power down, disconnect the USB disks, do a factory default (wipes all data, settings, everything), verify  it has come up fine, configure the NAS again, reconnect the USB disks etc.

If you prefer perhaps I could have a remote look at the NAS to see what I can find?

Re: Error : Duplicate file already exists ReadyNAS 102

Can I disable IPv6 on just the NAS or are you recommending on the router?

I have noticed that the problem does not occur when copying or moving a file between folders on the same drive or between the separate USB drives.  I just tested from the PC to the USB drives and it does not occur there either.  So the duplication error only occurs when moving from the NAS internal storage to USB drive.

I'm reluctant to do a full restore at the moment though I am considering it once my auto-backup stuff syncs and I can move it to the USB drives.

Re: Error : Duplicate file already exists ReadyNAS 102

Hello jcsdkx51,

I think that's just ReadyNAS IPv6 he's requesting to be disabled. Please check with him the remote access, that's going to be a big help.

Yes, I meant IPv6 on the NAS.

Re: Error : Duplicate file already exists ReadyNAS 102

I didn't see an option to turn off IPv6.  We can take a look at the remote access. Will have to let me know what your preferred method is there and find a time that's agreeable.  Thanks again for all your assistance!

Network tab, then click on the settings wheel.

Re: Error : Duplicate file already exists ReadyNAS 102

Thanks for the visuals.  I was able to shut off IPv6 and I also updated to the newest 6.6 firmware the other day.  Neither fixed the issue. When is a good time to grant you access and what do you need?
