File Location & Deleting TM Files

1. I set up TM according to the instructions. I do not see any user named ReadyNAS in the shares and I do not see the sparseimage in any of the share locations. Should I be seeing a user named ReadyNAS? Where would I find the sparseimage located?
2. I don't care for the time machine implementation on ReadyNAS, how can I find and delete the files created by time machine on my ReadyNAS?

I have owned five other ReadyNas product in the past, 2 1100, 3 2100, and never had an issue but now I telephoned support twice with these questions and after an hour and a half on the two calls, I could not even reach someone who had a familiarity with the ReadyNAS time machine implementation and the quality of the telephone calls was so bad that much of the time was spent simply trying to understand the support personal. Really a disappointment!

Re: File Location & Deleting TM Files

You came to the right place here to ask.

1. That user is created just for use with the ReadyNAS Time Machine functionality.
2. It's stored under /c/.timemachine. If you login to CIFS as "admin", it would be in the hidden ".timemachine" folder on the C share. Once connected to the C share in the Finder you could click Go > Go To Folder and type /Volumes/c/.timemachine amd click Go to access the share.

Re: File Location & Deleting TM Files

OMG, that was so easy. Why was I wasting my time trying deal with telephone support. Thanks so much for your help.

Next question, can I just delete the sparsebundle without any other problems or do I need to do something else too?

Thanks again!!!!

Re: File Location & Deleting TM Files

Can you see the C share?

If so follow my advice above. It will enable you to see the contents of the hidden folder

Re: File Location & Deleting TM Files

You can try Go > connect to Server and type.
afp://ip-of-the-nas
Then it will try to connect to the server and ask for username an password, use admin
This did work for me.

Re: File Location & Deleting TM Files

Avorill connecting via AFP to see the "ReadyNAS" (TM) share you'd have to login as the user "ReadyNAS" (no quotes)

I was talking in posts above about connecting via CIFS

Re: File Location & Deleting TM Files

Are you sure you don't mean smb or CIFS. You shouldn't see a "c" share when connected via AFP
