Files disappear when accessed by two users at once.
Hello,
One of my users is reporting a strange situation, when multiple people access the same file and try to save it the file disappears and can no longer be accessed.
I have some coders who access the same script. They are reporting this issue.
User A creates file, saves it, and closes it.
User B opens file.
User A opens file.
User B saves file.
User A saves file.
File disappears.
Has anyone experienced this before? Any ideas on a work around or fix?

Re: Files disappear when accessed by two users at once.
most applications, and their files, are not designed to handle such situations.
when user a opens the file after user b, user a does not have any changes that user b made. So when user A saves his copy after user B, it will normally overwrite any changes that user B made which are now gone.
what application or type of file is it?
does it happen when stored on some other non-nas network location?

Re: Files disappear when accessed by two users at once.
Hi TeknoJnky,
I agree with you on this, that this user behavior is not a best practice. The file in question is a TSQL script, and the situation does not happen off the NAS.
The part that is confusing to me is that the file just disappears after User A saves the file, I get that it should overwrite User B's changes but it should not apparently blink the file out of existence. This is concerning because I run a large network with a big amount of automation, simple user education probably wont be enough.
I am running ReadyNAS 2100 vs [X-RAID2], on RAIDiator 4.2.22
Thanks in advance for all suggestions and help!
