Hot disk replacement does not start syncing on ReadyNas Pro 6 running 4.2.30
Hot disk replacement does not start syncing on ReadyNas Pro 6 running 4.2.30
I have a RAID 6 volume using 6 x 3TB disks.
One disk was giving lots of SMART errors so I proactively removed the disk and replaced it with a new disk.
I get DISK REMOVED and NEW DISK ADDED, ARRAY WILL BE REBUILT warnings. However, I do not get any sign of a resync.
ulrich:/c/home/chris# cat /proc/mdstat Personalities : [raid0] [raid1] [raid10] [raid6] [raid5] [raid4] md2 : active raid6 sda3[0] sdf3[7] sde3[10] sdb3[9] sdc3[8] 7795170816 blocks super 1.2 level 6, 64k chunk, algorithm 2 [6/5] [U_UUUU] md1 : active raid6 sda2[0] sdf2[7] sde2[10] sdb2[9] sdc2[8] 2096896 blocks super 1.2 level 6, 64k chunk, algorithm 2 [6/5] [U_UUUU] md0 : active raid1 sda1[0] sdb1[6] sdc1[8] sdf1[7] sde1[9] 4193268 blocks super 1.2 [6/5] [UUUU_U] unused devices: <none> ulrich:/c/home/chris#
I've left it for 3 days and no sign.
I've pulled the drive and added it again. Same warnings, but no sign of a resync.
Unfortunately my warranty expired in August last year so no support!
How do I manually start this process?
Thanks Ferg

I found a similar post where they added the disk manually. Mine is also out of warranty, and I've messed with mdadm a lot, so what the hell!
They copied the PAT from a working disk, then manually added each partition to the approriate RAID device.
sgdisk /dev/sda -R /dev/sdd fdisk /dev/sdd sgdisk -G /dev/sdd mdadm --manage /dev/md0 --add /dev/sdd1 cat /proc/mdstat mdadm --manage /dev/md1 --add /dev/sdd2 cat /proc/mdstat mdadm --manage /dev/md2 --add /dev/sdd3 cat /proc/mdstat
