Keep the LCD-Display always "ON"
Hi there,
is it possible to keep the LCD-Display of a ReadyNAS Ultra always "ON"? My NAS is in a server rack with a glas door and so I have to open the door every time and push the blue button to switch the display on. I found already this http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/hardware/my_readynas_nv_lcd_keeps_turning_off :?

No. You can also see what's shown on the LCD in RAIDar (http://www.readynas.com/downloads). I would suggest using this.

Re: Keep the LCD-Display always "ON"
It is possible to keep it on all the time. But this would also reduce the life of the screen, and cause 'burn in'.
I can show you how if still interested.

Why via PM? Someone else (me, for instance) might learn from it too 😄

Re: Keep the LCD-Display always "ON"
You can turn the backlight on with this command:
/frontview/bin/monitor_enclosure daemon (monitors system temps/etc) will turn it back off after ~one minute.
In that case, you could watch its status in a loop and turn it back on.
# echo 1 > /sys/devices/system/rn_lcd/rn_lcd0/lcd_backlight

#!/bin/bash
while (true); do
echo 1 > /sys/devices/system/rn_lcd/rn_lcd0/lcd_backlight
sleep 1
done
