NV+ Rescan of media will not complete

Readynas nv+ purchased on Nov 18 2010 serial number <REMOVED BY MODERATOR>
The problem with the nas is the rescan of the media will not complete.
No media files show up on the network media player, I only see the main folder and one sub folder with no media content in it.
I know that there is nothing wrong with the media player because my 3 other Readynas drives work correctly and all their content is displayed and played on the media player.
The files on the nas drive in question are shown on any computer on the network and can be view, copied, moved, deleted or added to.
The old firmware version was 4.1.6. All hard drives are Seagate ST32000542AS, and all drives are in the green with the correct temps.
The file protocols enabled are cifs and http, the discovery services enabled are bonjour and upnp.
I updated the firmware to version 4.1.10, this did not correct the original problem with the rescan failure. I tried un checking the automatically update database the rescan started and never completed.
I have backed up all the data on the nas and before I do a system reset to default factory settings I would like to know if there are any suggestions anyone else has. Also does anyone know where the database information is stored. I was going to swap out the memory chip and see if it made the problem change.
This is the upnp av log file from when the the problem first happened

Re: NV+ Rescan of media will not complete

the database should be in /var/cache/minidlna, stop the minidlna service, delete all the content and restart
received signal 15, good-bye -> This usually happens when there is a poor connection, do you have a wireless connection?
do you have more of the 352 files ? -> scanner.c:808: warn: Scanning /c/media finished (352 files)!

Re: NV+ Rescan of media will not complete

first off thanks for the info, started reading the doc for putty, not having used a telnet client before are the cmd similar to dos for moving around the file system ie md. rd. cd as for del, rename, copy. Answered my own question keep reading dummy.

Re: NV+ Rescan of media will not complete

dos is somewhat related to linux.

cd /var/cache/minidlna will get you to the correct directory.

ls -l is similar to dir
cat will list a file on the screen.

Downloaded putty when I put either the host name Nas2 or the IP address in and hit open, I get a message connection refused. Using ssh have also tried rlogin and telnet Any ideas

Did you enable ssh on the Nas? http://www.readynas.com/?p=4203

Re: NV+ Rescan of media will not complete

downloaded ssh will install it on the nas. If after a successful login using putty, hopefully I will be able to navigate to the correct file, if i delete the file and start a rescan of the media will the file rebuild itself or can i only view the file and if so what should I be looking for.

Re: NV+ Rescan of media will not complete

after installing ssh u must login with username: root, after that navigate with cd /var/cache/minidlna and delete the database. restart the server from the frontview and the readydlna should create the file as new
to make it short:
stop readydlna server from the front view
start putty (you just have to put the ip address of the nas with port 22 and select SSH and login to the nas with the username "root" (the password is the same you have for the frontview but the username is root and not admin))
cd /var/cache/minidlna
rm *
logout
go to the frontview and restart del readydlna server
i hope it's clear

Thank you for the quick reply will try what you suggest and let you know what happens. If this will not solve the problem will doing a factory default reset clear everything and will I have to reinstall the 4.1.10 firmware.

there is a newer version available, i suggest you to update that readydlna to 1.0.25 before a factory reset
you can find it here http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=27946

Re: NV+ Rescan of media will not complete

Sorry it took so long to get back to this. I found that a movie I uploaded was causing the problem, I still dont know why this caused the rescan not to complete. Hopefully someone with more knowledge of the Nas operating system will find a way to check the uploaded content for this problem. Thanks for all your assistance in helping me.

I think you should start a new thread, this one is over a year old.
Post some more detail about your problem and the steps you have taken so far to try to solve it.
