NV will not boot

Hi

I own an NV running the latest firmware 4.1.8. I had it running all the time but came home to find it no longer running. When I press the power button to start it, all the LEDs briefly flash. This brief flash only happens the first time after I have re-plugged the power lead in. However, nothing else happens after this brief flash. The fan does not start and the discs do not spin up.

I am guessing the power supply has gone. Can anyone suggest my options? Can I get a new power supply? Can I migrate the discs to a new ReadyNAS? I would like to keep the data on the drives, so if some hacking is required to migrate to a new processor architecture, I have no problem with that.

Thanks

When did you purchase the NAS?

Re: NV will not boot

Thanks for the replies. I bought it in September 2006 and yes the serial number is in that range.

Re: NV will not boot

What region are you in? Have you had the PSU replaced before? Depending on what region you are in you may be able to get a replacement PSU. Contact NetGear support (http://www.readynas.com/support)

Re: NV will not boot

I'm in Europe. No, I have not had the power supply replaced before. I will try contacting support.

I guess a new power supply is the only option to get the data off? All the current NAS's have a different processor architecture.

Re: NV will not boot

There is also this: http://home.bott.ca/webserver/?p=306

You could migrate to another Sparc NAS but these are all discontinued. You could not migrate the disks to the new Duo/NV+ v2 (ARM) or the NVX/Ultra/Pro (x86) line.
