Network Connection Problem
Hi,
Please point me in the correct direction if this has been covered elsewhere.
I have recently reinstalled Win XP on a netbook, since then ive been unable to connect to my ReadyNAS Duo v1,
ive being getting one of 2 errors, the first being i dont have permission to access my network workgroup if i go via network places, ReadyNas Duo, etc.
the second being i dont have permission to the readyNAS and that the account is currently disabled if i manually type \\'readynas duo' into the address bar.
I had none of these problems prior to the reinstall of XP.
I also have a Win7 Ultimate computer that is on the same network which can access the Duo no problem, making me think the problem lies on the XP
netbook.
Ideas and solutions gratefully received.
Dave

Re: Network Connection Problem
Did you set up a user/password on the NAS for the XP netbook?

Re: Network Connection Problem
unfortunalty that didnt work,
when i double click on the ReadyNAS icon in network places it still comes up with the error -
'logon failure - account currently disabled'
ive also gone into my netbooks account and made sure the username and password matches the account on my Duo

Re: Network Connection Problem
What happens if you enter the full path into the explorer address bar? (\\ReadyNAS\sharename)

Re: Network Connection Problem
it says thatve miss-splled the address, tried it several tims now.
interestingly tho ive just started a second win7 machine and it asked for my admin password and it was accepted.
also tried a second xp machine, it also asked for password, both working ok after password
is there anyway to force the win xp to ask for password?

Re: Network Connection Problem
By chance does the user account on the computer that cant login match the name of any of the shares?
you can try forcing a password request in the command prompt with: net use \\(IP ADDRESS)\c user:admin
