OpenSUSE RAIDar not finding ReadyNAS

I have an Ultra 4 on my network, and it is easily accessed from all my windows machines and even my android tablet. I converted an old laptop over to OpenSUSE just for something new to learn, and for the life of me, I can not get RAIDar to see the NAS; neither can I find an explanation that I understand on how to mount the NAS on the OpenSUSE machine. I am a longtime user of unix, but my sys-admin skills are obviously not quite up to par. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I run RAIDar, I get the following line over and over:

2[cid:0x22bc44b6]send packet IOException[/fe80:0:0:0:290:4bff:fe93:e55e%3:60158]:java.io.IOException: Network is unreachable

I can get to the NAS with the browser by going to 10.0.0.100/shares or /admin

Any tips?

Thanks.

No idea on RAIDar, and I am not an OpenSuse guy either... So take this for what its worth...

On mounting the NAS, maybe start here: http://doc.opensuse.org/documentation/h ... a.nfs.html in section 18.4 First enable NFS as a protocol on the NAS shares.

Re: OpenSUSE RAIDar not finding ReadyNAS

Do you have an IPv6 interface up? If so, can you shut that off?

RAIDar on Linux probably doesn't get much QAing, even the Windows one has a lot of outstanding bugs.

Also, since you still have Windows machines, you might not need to bother with RAIDar on the OpenSUSE system.

Yep, I had already turned IPv6 off based on what I had already found.

Fantastic! That gave me the clue I needed to figure it out, and now RAIDar works as well! My wireless interface (and hard ethernet connection for that matter) were both set to "unknown zone" which prevented the firewall from allowing NFS, or any other type of access. Once I set the zone to "internal", and set up an NFS client as described in the document above, it worked great.

Thanks for your help!

Re: OpenSUSE RAIDar not finding ReadyNAS

I'm glad you got it sorted.

I don't think I'll add OpenSUSE to my resume yet though... 😄
