Proper Backup Configuration Format for Readynas Pioneer NVX Edition (Radiator 4.2.21)

If possible,

can someone shed some light on the correct way to configure a backup on the NVX edition?  I've not been able to find anything that directly addresses this older model any more and the information provided doesn't seem to be working (unless I'm overlooking something):

http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/backup/how_do_i_backup_an_entire_drive_on_a_windows_pc_to_a_share_on_...

That being said, I tried this format (no dice unfortunately) :

Hostname:  172.16.29.155

        Path: c$/VShare

        Login: administrator      Password:12345432

The full ReadyNas wiki article is here:   http://www.readynas.com/kb/products/nvx

Here's another example:

http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/21346/~/how-do-i-use-my-readynas-ultra-series,-ultra-p...

I'm trying to find some online example that shows the fields "filled in" because it seems there's a lot of "indicating" how the fields should be populated but nothing that definitively shows this (again, unless I'm looking in the wrong areas).

I went to the online manual and found the section discussing backups (pg 79), but once again, no "filled in" example on how to properly input information on how to configure a backup (plenty of examples, though):

http://www.readynas.com/download/documentation/UM/ReadyNASnvx_UMv1.1_12Feb09.pdf

The formats that I've been following (per pg 81 in the manual regarding "Examples of a Windows or remote NAS path") without much success are as such:

   Hostname:  172.16.29.155

           Path: //172.16.29.155//VShare

         Login: administrator      Password:12345432

   Hostname:  172.16.29.155

           Path: //172.16.29.155/VShare/Docs

         Login: administrator      Password:12345432

Any insight is appreciated. Fyi, I'm fine with my Radiator version because its's been stable for me (if it ain't broke don't fix it).

Jay

Hi jay_johnson,

Are you trying to backup a folder inside the C: volume of your PC? If that is the case, just change the directory using its folder name and ensure that the folder is shared on your network (with full control permission).

Hope this helps!

Unfortunately, this NAS os not running OS 6; it's an earlier version running on radiator 4.2.x.

Jon

People replying here are assuming that.

The question now is whether you have shared VSHARE on the PC, or not.

In that case, yes... I've shared the folder but still no success.

Hi jay_johnson,

Try to change the path to the name of the subfolder inside you C: (unsure if its VShare or Docs) and try to run backup again. Also test if you can access this shared folder via hostname or IP address on the same PC or another.

I look forward to your response.

Kind regards,
