RAID 10 on Readynas 2100 not taking effect (4.2.17)
I recently installed the 4.2.17 firmware then put the Readynas 2100 (with 4x 500GB drives) into factory default mode. I then went into the RAIDar util and set it to FlexRAID and selected '10' from the drop-down box. Once that was done the Readynas rebooted and I logged into frontview and on the homepage it shows 'Online, RAID Level 5, 4 disks, 0% of 1378 GB used"
So what gives, how do I get dual-redundancy on this Readynas?
Thanks

try deleting the raid 5 volume, then you should be able to create a new volume of however you want

RAID-10 is available on 6-bay or greater ReadyNAS only.

Hmm, so is this a bug in RAIDar since it allows me to select it under the FlexRAID drop-down?

Re: RAID 10 on Readynas 2100 not taking effect (4.2.17)
RAID10 was broken in 32bits RN-OS. RN2100v1 and RN-NVX get affected. It will be fixed in next release.

So it is available on 4-bay ReadyNAS? I thought it was for 6-bay or greater ReadyNAS only like X-RAID2 dual-redundancy and RAID-6?

This. I have read conflicting answers on this issue. So, will 4.2.18 allow for a FlexRAID RAID-10 volume on a 4-bay 2100 for dual redundancy? Will there be any support for dual-redundancy under X-RAID2 for a 4-bay NAS as well?
Thanks.

Re: RAID 10 on Readynas 2100 not taking effect (4.2.17)
RAID6 and XRAID2 Dual Redundancy are only supported on 6Bays+ Units on both 32bits and 64bits OS. Just RAID10 was accidently disabled in 32bits RAIDiator OS for 32Bits system like RN2100v1 and NVX.

Re: RAID 10 on Readynas 2100 not taking effect (4.2.17)
I had same problem.
I tried to build the RAID-10 on RN2100v1. but it failed.
RAIDar said 'corrupted root'.
I also treid to another way.
First of all, create the RAID-0 volume and then delete it then re-create the RAID-10 but it failed.
I also tried to create the RAID-10 manually on SSH by mdadm, but it also failed.. NAS hanged-up.
Is there any way to create the RAID-10 on 32bit NAS?
Thanks.

4.2.18 solved this issue.
