RAIDar reports No disks detected
Hi,
Just received a replacement Duo following the failure of my old one.
As instructed by support I have taken my drives out of the old Duo and put them in the new one.
RAIDar detects my Duo but after an hour of putting the disks into the drive its still reporting no disks detected. There is no light activity (other than the power light) on the front of the unit.
What do I do to get the unit working?
Thanks

Re: RAIDar reports No disks detected
Sounds like the replacement unit may have issues. Power down the replacement unit, remove your disks (label order), put a different disk in the NAS and see if when you attempt to boot the NAS anything different happens.

Re: RAIDar reports No disks detected
Hi Thanks for the message, now saying booting. When can I put the second disk back in (do I have to wait for the first one to finish initialising)?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: RAIDar reports No disks detected
I thought I said to remove both disks A and B, and put in a different disk C?
So it is stuck on booting. Which disk did you leave in the NAS? Disk 1 or disk 2?

Re: RAIDar reports No disks detected
Sorry yes I did remove all disks and replaced disk 1 with a replacement disk. RAIDer reported the disk as being there (and a light is now on the panel under drive 1), and showed booting.
However now RAIDer cannot connect to the duo.

Re: RAIDar reports No disks detected
Is the data on the disk backed up? If so, try a factory default via the boot menu. When the NAS comes up what firmware is it running? Is it older firmware than what you were running on the old unit?

Re: RAIDar reports No disks detected
Yes data is backed up, however RAIDer has now detected the Duo.
I have two disks in now (RAIDer and the front panel both detect two disks) and the firmware is 5.3.5.
When I go into the control panel for the Duo though only one drive appears? This is showing as being RAID 0 (which I thought wasn't the default - I thought the Duo default setup was X-RAID2) - Why is only one of my disks showing?

Re: RAIDar reports No disks detected
Can you try updating the firmware?
Are the disks properly inserted. If so, there could be a hardware issue with this Duo.
If the previous user of the unit used Flex-RAID then a factory default would default to using Flex-RAID. You would have had to choose X-RAID2 during the 10 minute countdown to use that.

Re: RAIDar reports No disks detected
Sorry the last sentence should say that the control panel shows a RAID type of Flex RAID but against the only disk showing it says RAID 0 (non redundant). Before my old unit went down it had the same RAID setting but showed two drives

Re: RAIDar reports No disks detected
I'm now getting a message, through the dashboard, that the unit is offline?

Re: RAIDar reports No disks detected
Did you have the Dashboard on your old unit or just the replacement unit?
Do you remember what firmware you were running on the old unit?

Re: RAIDar reports No disks detected
Sorry I haven't got back to you sooner - For some reason I stopped getting alerts about replies.
I did an O\S restore and after about an hour (including getting an offline message again), the unit is now up and running Ok. No idea what the problem was before though.
Thank you for your help.
