RN 516 hard drive limits?

I have a RN 516, firmware 6.4.0, in X-RAID config.  It is filled with 2x 2TB, 2x 1TB, 1x 6TB, and 1x 3TB drives.  When I added the 6TB drive, replacing a 1TB, I didn't gain any more storage space.  After backing everything up, I removed all of the drives except the 6TB and did a factory reset.  This gave me 5TB or so on the initial start.  I then added the 3TB, which the system didn't seem to like.  It showed the disk as dark gray on the volumes page.  I deleted all of the existing volumes and tried to have the 516 format it.  Nothing happened, so I stuck it into my Windows server and re-initialized it.  I then put it back in the 516 with the 6TB drive and did another factory reset.  Now it is showing that I have 2.72TB for the system, and it is rebuilding.  What gives?  Can I expect it to increase as the resynching process finishes?  Is there just too big of a gap between the 6TB and the 1,2, and 3TB drives for the 516 to utilize the 6TB?  Netgear tech support wasn't very helpful.  They elevated the original issue to L3, which suggested replacing the small drives with 6TB drives.  I don't have a spare $1000 laying around, so that's not much of an option.

Re: RN 516 hard drive limits?

Once the resync had completed the volume should then have expanded (to use 3TB of the 6TB disk) after your first added the 6TB disk.

However to utilise the full space on the 6TB disk you would need at least two of the 6TB drives installed. Volumes can only be expanded when redundant space can be added.

Smaller disks need to be added first then larger disks or a factory default (wipes all data, settings, everything) done with the disks in place.
