RN102 - Windows File Explorer

I've been through all of the solutions I can see here but none of them seem to work. We moved house and so I've only just plugged my ReadyNAS back in. It's connected to one of the Wireless Routers in a mesh network. I'm trying to access it from a new laptop and can get to it via ReadyCloud but not via File Explorer. Problem with ReadyCloud is every file access equates to a download to my laptop which is not really how I want to use it.

I've set the IP address to a static address and changed the name of the NAS (NASname). In both cases I've set them up in Windows Credential Manager with the relevant username (admin) and password.

The device appears in my File Manager twice when I access Network: once listed as a Computer with the relevant name and once as Storage listed as ReadyNAS102 (NASname). If I double-click the Device listing it opens it in ReadyCloud. The other one comes up with the error: Windows cannot access \\NASname Check the spelling of the name, etc.

If I try entering either static IP address or the device name into the File Explorer bar (in the format \\192.168.1.132 or \\NASname) then I get the same error.

I've disabled all Services except SMB, UPnP, HTTP and HTTPS.

Updated Firmware to 6.10.3 and Status is showing as Healthy. Both the NAS and my Laptop have been restarted.

What else can I try? Is it something to do with the router I've connected it to? I can access it through ReadyCloud so I'm assuming not. Or am I just being really dumb and have missed a setting somewhere?

Help!

Re: RN102 - Windows File Explorer

Sorry, meant to say that I'd tried that as well. When I do it returns the following error:

System error 1272 has occurred.

You can't access this shared folder because your organization's security policies block unauthenticated guest access. These policies help protect your PC from unsafe or malicious devices on the network.

My understanding is that this is a change introduced by Microsoft into Windows 10 to disable Guess access to SMB2.

Re: RN102 - Windows File Explorer

Try running CMD (type it in the windows search bar), and then enter

net use * /delete /y
net use t: \\192.168.1.132\data /user:admin nas-admin-password

and let us know if that works.  Be careful on the typing (both slash directions and spaces).  This won't work if your admin password is password, so change it first if that is the case.

The first command closes any current SMB sessions on the PC.  The second attempts to map the full NAS data volume to drive letter t.

Re: RN102 - Windows File Explorer

Ah wait! OK, I'd missed your reference to changing the password. Funnily enough I had changed it back to Password to save my fingers from typing in the more complex password I was using. I've just changed it but before trying your suggestion I updated Credential Manager and now it's working. Thank you!
