RN104 "not redundant" message
Came back from holidays found message "not redundant" 716.5 of 10.9TB used
thought i would do a reboot
been 4 days now and data recovery is only 16% can this be correct ?

Sounds like you have a bad disk and after you rebooted it added the disk back in.

has now been on data 92% free for some time
not sure if related but cannot transfer a file from aperture

Has 92% data free and appears to be working well

status shows 4 drives as healthy
run the diagnostic and recieved this
2017-05-19 21:45:20: md/raid:md127: raid level 5 active with 3 out of 4 devices, algorithm 2
can you please explain what this actually means ? ( disk 2 gonsky ) cheers

Try looking in mdstat.log, and see if one of the disks is set up to be a spare.
