RN204 OS 6.6 update now get error message "no volumes exists"
Just updated to the new OS 6.6 firmware and now getting No Volumes Exist error message.
I am not technically minded and most if not all the jargon means nothing to me.
The RN204 was working fine then it freezed as it is in an awkard place I login to the readynas software switched it of then back on again, it then said there was an update which I did, and now this No Volumes exist which I understand is something to do with the 4 drives not being seen. All I hope is that I am not going to loose at least 20000 music tracks and many 100's of photos.
so please any help would be appreciated, but don't talk techy as I will not understand.

Re: RN204 OS 6.6 update now get error message "no volumes exists"
Can you see your NAS using RAIDar app? If not -> tech support, If you can, check the status of your drives. On the other hand, maybe something went wrong during update (the problem appears directly after update?) , thus, re-installing might be required.

RAIDar is a management program that runs on a PC. You can get the download for 6.2 here: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20684/~/readynas-downloads#raidar

Re: RN204 OS 6.6 update now get error message "no volumes exists"
Thank you I have downloaded and ran it and it said
Status Volume data-0:Raid Level 5.Inactive;0MB (0%) used
Drives 4 in total icon is blue with a green tick on all of them.
Hope that means something.

Re: RN204 OS 6.6 update now get error message "no volumes exists"
So you have no backup for irreplaceable data?
Can you download your logs using RAIDar and send those in (see the Sending Logs link in my sig)?

Re: RN204 OS 6.6 update now get error message "no volumes exists"
" (...) Drives 4 in total icon is blue with a green tick on all of them. (...)" for me it suggest taht the disks at hardware are in good shape. Nevertheless, if your RAIDar can see NAS is good. Try to download logs (not sure the engluiish name, I'm using polish) - "Download logs" and run Diagnosis. Screen from Diagnosis post here (make it as small as possible), Logs post as it is described elsewhere in a forum.
Cleary, disks exists and they appear to be in good shape, Either it is an installation failure (reinstalling might be a solution) or RAID5 is broken for some reason (and if you have critital data on it I have no idea how to help you, but someone on a forum will :)).

Re: RN204 OS 6.6 update now get error message "no volumes exists"

Re: RN204 OS 6.6 update now get error message "no volumes exists"
Hey, unfortunately I'm not familiar with Linux at that level of understanding (because both errors are directly corelated with Debian 8 (linux) that is a core of ReadyNAS OS 6.6.0, your true problem is the first one). I think re-installing OS should help, but wait for the reply from more advanced Linux users.

I doubt it. It'd be best if the OP contacts Netgear support (my.netgear.com). They will charge, but that's the safest way to proceed (least likely to result in data loss).

Re: RN204 OS 6.6 update now get error message "no volumes exists"
hi
I think i may have seen something in the logs.
looking through them i see the last update that it did was to 6.5.1 there is no 6.5.2 as i believe by looking through all the other info should have had that update before doing 6.6.0, is that an "Oh Bugger" problem now.

You should have been able to go directly from 6.5.1 to 6.6.0.

Looks like two disks have dropped out of your array. You should contact support.
