I have this RN312 with 2x4TB WD Red Drives (WDC WD40EFRX-68WT0N0) on RAID 1 at a client and Disk 2 went down so I replaced it with another identical brand new disk. Resync started then completed 4 hours later but status is still degraded and I don't understand why and how.
Thu Aug 3 2017 16:03:42 | Disk: Disk Model:WDC WD40EFRX-68N32N0 Serial:WD-WCC7K2CU3E2A was added to Channel 2 of the head unit. |

Fri Aug 4 2017 23:27:36 | Disk: Disk in channel 2 (Internal) changed state from RESYNC to ONLINE. |
...
If I restart the unit it resyncs again then back to Degraded state.
I've downloaded the logs and they're available via dropbox HERE
Please help me.
Thank you,
Filipe

Per mdstat.log, the second disk ends up set as a spare. I'm not sure why that is - the fastest way to resolve it might be netgear support. If the customer purchased between 1 June 2014 and 31 May 2016, then they are entitled to lifetime chat support.
FWIW, the first disk has a couple of errors (2 pending sectors)

Thank you StephenB I'll try getting hold of them.
I'm I wrong to assume it's fine to leave Disk 1 as it is until an eventual fail?
Cheers,
Fil

I wouldn't touch disk 1 right now. If you don't have a full backup, I do recommend making one.
