RND2000 and backup of a USB disk

Hi all,
I would like to buy a RND2000 with a 1TB HD (there is a nice offer on amazon.it) but I still have some doubts.

I own a MB and I store ALL my photos on this HD so the main use case for the ready nas would be to act like a backup of all my photos.
How can I do that?
I'm sure I can use rsync to keep the folder that contains the photos in sync with the NAS but I would prefer to just plug the USB HD into the ready NAS and have everything backed up? Is it possibile?
Can I use the readynas as a timemachine server? If i got it right that's a feature offered by a recent firmware version. Right?

Thanks in advance.

You can configure the backup button on the front to execute an rsync backup from your attached HD.

See the Programmable Backup Button section of this page:

And yes, you can use the ReadyNAS as a Time Machine server.
