No, not at this time. See the Comparison Charts.

There is an add-on to enable FTP over ReadyNAS Remote so you can access files via your iOS (iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch) or Android device though.

To use Remote on iPhone/Android (via FTP) on Duo v2, try this add-on: http://www.readynas.com/download/addons ... rm_1.1.bin (enables the FTP service on the Remote network interface)
Future Remote or iPhone will have the option to use CIFS instead of FTP. Not sure when that will go through the App Store approval process.

A smaller feature set (for now, at least) doesn't necessarily mean it's "worse".

Agreed. For normal home users, the V1 and Ultra feature set is intimidating. A lot of options/controls that don't make sense to folks without a lot of knowledge. Of course if you want the bigger feature set, then the V2 is not right for you (at least not now, maybe not ever).

Anyway, I think a big part of the problem is the DUO V2 branding - it sets an expectation that the DUO V1 features are all there.

Well the product has been named and released. The Duo v1 and NV+ v1 both started as products a lot more expensive than what they are now. Inevitably as the price lowered the product opened up to less tech-savvy users who found the large feature set confusing. The new Duo v2 and NV+ v2 retain a low price tag but are developed with a feature set suitable for the low-end of the NAS market.
