ReadyNAS 104, problems activating SMB for external USB HDD
HI,
I raised this question in the German forum as well but did not receive an answer.
On RN104 I have added a 320 GB external USB Harddisk on the upper USB port of the NAS device.
This device is recognized and I can browse the files on the NAS webpage.
I can acitvate all services for this share but I can't activate SMB service for it. Everytime I activate it and click OK, it falls back to deactivated again.
Is there a solution or something else I need to do before I try this ?
It works fine for my ESATA drive installed. But not for the USB HDD.
Any idea , anyone else experiences this issue ?
Thanks,
Hans

Re: ReadyNAS 104, problems activating SMB for external USB H
The same here.
I'm not able to share via SMB the USB_HDD1.
I have no problem via http trough the http management interface (folders tab) and via FTP.
However, I am not able to share the USB_HDD1 (western digital my passport) via SMB.
Someone has the same problem?
Thnx!

Re: ReadyNAS 104, problems activating SMB for external USB H
Hi,
Since a couple of days I'm having the same issue on my 102.
I have 3 usb drive connected to it; SMB has always worked flawless until I activate DLNA on one of the drive.
DLNA has been activate without issue but SMB has been automatically put on "OFF" and it's impossible to set it back on "ON" even after disabling DLNA again. The other 2 drives - on which I didn't activate DLNA - are still working as usual in SMB.
FW version is 6.2.2. I tried to reinstall the firmware but no impact on the issue.
Any way to reactivate SMB or force the disk to be recognized as a new one to have default settings (SMB activate)?
Thanks.

Hi,
Would you mind sending in the logs of your ReadyNAS device so we can have a closer look?
The following link describes how to do so:

Thank you,

I have the same issue. A USB HD which has always worked suddenly wont let me enable SMB. However i've also recently added a different USB hd USB HD 3 and that one does let me enable smb. Really strange, a solution would be much appreciated.
