ReadyNAS 104: "Cannot connect discovery server"
I have been using my ReadyNAS for about six months without any issues. A couple of weeks ago I upgraded to the latest firmware after the heartbleed issue and it was still working fine. But just now, I lost the connection to the NAS. I restarted it and then I see the message "Cannot connect discovery server" on the display. I can't reach it via the file network (\\myNASname) or via http (https://192.168.1.252/admin/).
Any ideas what I should try?

Did you try pinging the NAS?
Also are you using Chrome as the browser?

Re: ReadyNAS 104: "Cannot connect discovery server"
My NAS is on 192.168.1.252 because that's the bookmark I use to reach it via my browser, but more importantly: that's the address my router says my NAS was using. But when I ping that I get:
Reply from 192.168.1.164: Destination host unreachable.

Ping statistics for 192.168.1.252:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
192.168.1.164 is the computer I'm pinging from.
I'm using Firefox.

Re: ReadyNAS 104: "Cannot connect discovery server"
Does your router give you a different IP address now? If you aren't sure, try disconnecting the ethernet cable from the NAS and plugging it back in again. The LCD screen should tell you the IP address.

Re: ReadyNAS 104: "Cannot connect discovery server"
When I did that it suddenly started working again. Possibly my cleaning lady might have unplugged it when she was here cleaning a few days ago. 🙂
I can now reach my ReadyNAS via http and file browser. However, it's still showing the "cannot connect discovery server" message (but maybe that will disappear soon now that it's once again connected to my router).
I feel like such a n00b. 🙂
