ReadyNAS 4200 vs Thecus N8800PRO

We need an 10Gbe NFS datastore for vSphere virtual machines. We're considering the ReadyNAS 4200, but I noticed that the Thecus N8800PRO has pretty similar specs (8 drives instead of 12), but is a whole lot cheaper (EUR 2000 diskless with 2x10Gbe ethernet + 2x1Gb ethernet).
Anyone got any experience with both devices?

Re: ReadyNAS 4200 vs Thecus N8800PRO

i have seen readynas 3200 and then thecus 8900 in action and the 6gbit sata ports with disks. does do a difference with 12 disks i saw the readynas perform slower then the 8 disk thecus!
plus thecus has the policy you can add you "own" nic without voiding warrenty
netgear dropped the ball with performance in my opinion sata6 and going passed 100 to 200mb/s should be doable with 12x disk 😉 as my netapp fas2020 with 12 disks on sta 3 can also do this.
one thing i have not tested is the snapshot method on thecus. as if it is also copy on write.. what would drop you performance in halve and in my case in four!

Hi Roger. Which one did you go with? I guess you went with ReadNAS? How was it? Any issues so far?
