Re: ReadyNAS Duo v1 OS Reinstall questions
Thank you. I am running the SeaTools for Windows now.
Tests - results
Basic test -
short drive self test - pass
Short Generic - pass
Long generic - looks like this will take 4+ hours.
Should I have the results of the long generic test before I contact support?

I'd wait. I don't recall if seatools shows you the SMART stats or not. I'd also look for them (Seagate has a much higher threshold for reallocated sectors than I do).
If seatools doesn't show them, you can try Acronis Drive Monitor. Their download is free, but you do need to give them your email address.

Re: ReadyNAS Duo v1 OS Reinstall questions
Acronis reports:
health 100%
disk is working normally.
all smart parameters listed as OK
I remember that I was having some issues with the Duo and iTunes on a couple of computers making duplicate song files (pre-family sharing). I had "deleted" many duplicates but if drive 1 is reading as full then those songs may not have been deleted.
From some other articles I have read here I downloaded DiskInternals but I really don't understand much of what I am looking at there. So I have done nothing with that program other than scan.
I will wait for SeaTools to finish the Long Generic test.
Thank you for the continued help.

Re: ReadyNAS Duo v1 OS Reinstall questions
diskinternals should let you get to the shares, and copy the data off to the PC. It will also show you the OS partition folders (etc, var, usr, ...), which you should ignore.

Re: ReadyNAS Duo v1 OS Reinstall questions
Would it be possible for me to find the Trash folder using diskinternals and then delete the contents in the trash?
possibly free up the space on the drive that way?

No. Linux Reader is (as the name implies) read only. It just lets you extract the data.

Re: ReadyNAS Duo v1 OS Reinstall questions
Is there a way to find the files which were marked to be deleted but weren't and remove them with the drive being mounted externally?
