ReadyNAS NV+ Hanging on volume scan
hey guys i am running a ReadyNAS NV+ running RAIDiator 4.1.12
now the problem is that it told me to do a volume scan so i did one in frontview and it just froze and i had to take the power out to reboot
i also did a volume scan after boot and it will get to 62% and just stop, i have done this a number of times and it will do the same
now when i was running RAIDiator 4.1.11 i had this problem it would hang at 60% something but once rebooted it worked
the hdds are new this year and they are all ok in smart view should i go back to RAIDiator 4.1.11 or any ideas??
i am running x raid and are all 2tb drives

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ Hanging on volume scan
If you are using xraid or raid-5, then you can remove the drive (either with the NAS running or powered down) and you will still be able to access the volume. It won't be redundant, so a second disk failure will destroy the array (so updating your backup would be a good idea).
When the new disk arrives, hot-insert it into the NAS (with it running). The drive will then be tested, and the array will be rebuilt to include the new drive. You can still use the NAS during the resync/rebuild process, but it will be somewhat slower than usual.
