Hi,
I had two 8TB drive in my Readynas 312 but I was running out of space, so I bought two new 14TB drives (from the online compatibility list).
- shutdown the unit
- I removed one 8TB drive and replaced with a new 14TB drive
- rebooted and waited about a day for synchronization to complete
- shutdown the unit again
- I removed the other 8TB drive and replaced with a new 14TB drive
- rebooted and synchronization is in progress, but the total volume is still 8TB
When is the ReadyNas going to recognize the larger drives?
Do I need to wait for the second synchronization to complete for that to happen?
Is there a way to manually expand the volume to match the larger drives?
I'm on the latest software (6.10.5 Hotfix 1)
Thanks,
-Gianluca.

This is normal. The second synchronization happens in two steps, and you will see the expansion when the second step begins.
Your system will have two RAID groups - the original 2x8TB and a new 2x6TB group. These are concatenated into one volume, but as far as RAID management goes they are independent. When you replaced the first disk, only the original 2x8TB group could be synced. When you replaced the second disk, the system resyncs the 2x8TB group again, and then syncs the 2x6 TB group as the second step.
