Readynas 526 hds acting strange
For the past 3 days , there been some strange things going on , there is one partion using raid 5 over 3 hds .
There is a constant reading/writing every 3 seconds on those drives 24/7
Tried a reboot , still the same
Even tried to turn remove the network cable , still the same issues thougth it was a device that was reading/writing to the nas , but ..
Downloaded the log from the nas if someone could take a look and find something useful in there ?

What are the things you did before it happens? Try rebooting it.

What apps are installed? Do you have antivirus or file search enabled?
Perhaps download the log zip file, and see if there is a lot of logging activity.

Re: Readynas 526 hds acting strange
Hello
Plex is installed as app only
Did check the logs ,but cant find anything wrong .
But the strange thing, it keeps read/write every second to the drives
Even when nothing is connected to the nas .
Ive started a defrag on the volume , then balance and ill do another defrag .
Sure is wierd .....

Re: Readynas 526 hds acting strange
Of course the logging itself writes to the NAS drives. So check the larger ones to gauge the frequency of the logging.

I thought you said Plex was installed??? If so, the application and it's database are both on the data volume.
FWIW, my own RN526x is showing 1-8 write operations every minute at the moment over the past hour. Although disk spindown still seems to be working.

You don't need to remove it, it's sufficient to turn it off.

Re: Readynas 526 hds acting strange
Of course we didn't figure out the cause, but it's great that the problem is now resolved.
