Readynas rnd2000 v2 password reset issue

Hello,

I'm trying to reset the admin password on my readynas RND2000 v2 via the <enter IP address>/password_recovery approach.

I have entered the correct details (modal box appears with success message), however when I check my gmail inbox there is no email.

I have looked in the spam folders and searched my inbox for keywords (netgear).

My questions:

1. does this apprpach still work?

2. if No to above, can I do an OS update to reset the password & not lose any of the files on the disks

I have looked on the forums but all I can find info to update the OS as an authenticated user.

any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks

Should make no difference, check your DNS and other settings after re-install though

The IP configuration will be reset to use factory defaults (DHCP).

Password reset should work, but it relies on the SMTP server and email address you specified in the set-up.  If anything chaged there, it would fail.  Are you getting notification from the NAS (if you have any enabled)?

But an OS re-install is always there as a last resort.
