Reinstall OS after Xpenology
Hello, everything's okay
I bought, second hand, a NAS model Readynas RNDU2000.
However, the seller had installed on Xpenology.
Before selling his NAS, he remove Xpenology and told me that I need just to reinstall the Netgear OS.
I looked around on Netgear's official website and then on Google but I can not find a way to do that.
Can someone give me directions?
In advance, I thank you all for your help.
PS : sorry for my english but I'm frenc

Re: Reinstall OS after Xpenology
Hello JohnCM_S,
It doesn't work :'(
In step 4 : "Continue to press the Reset button until the Power button LED, USB and backup status LED, disk 1 LED, and disk 2 LED illuminate." <--- I've only the Power button LED on , the others no.
I've try lot of time but without success.
Always, only the Power button LED is lighting

Re: Reinstall OS after Xpenology
Try zeroing one of the disks (WDC's Lifeguard and Seagate's Seatools programs will do this). Then put that zeroed disk into the NAS by itself, and power it on. If the USB flash wasn't modified by the seller, the system should do a factory install.
If that fails, you could try doing a USB recovery. Or maybe contact the seller - they really should have reinstalled the Netgear OS for you.

Re: Reinstall OS after Xpenology
Hello StephenB,
It doesn't work too :'(
Nothing happend when I follow the procedure for USB Recovery
BUt, I've read this information on Xpenology
"WARNING you will loose ReadyNAS OS forever"
Source : https://theyeti74.wordpress.com/2014/03/12/turn-you-readynas-ultra-into-a-native-synology-nas/
So, I think it will be impossible to restore the NAS

...but you could possibly give the box back to the seller and ask for a for a full refund based on what you now found out.

Re: Reinstall OS after Xpenology
Thanks to the very kind help of former Netgear employee & community magician, it was possible to get it back to life. So, I know for a fact that it is possible, but I never got to understand what he did...
