Samba/SMB share access issues with ReadyNAS OS 6.8.0 on RN202

Sir(s) et al
I've manually upgrade my RN202 from [ReadyNAS OS 6.7.5] to [ReadyNAS OS 6.8.0].
After the upgrade I wasn't able any more to access my samba/smb shares from my Linux computers running Manjaro Linux (some kind of Arch Linux) and Debian 9 Stretch (on a cubietruck):
- I can see/browse the shares, get asked for the credentials, but can't login to the share
- My Nextcloud installation has the same issues
- On a virtual Windows 10 i can access the shares
- Enable/disable the new MAC-OS feature didn't solve the problem
- Using the SMB Plus tool didn't solve the issue either
After a dirty rollback to [ReadyNAS OS 6.7.5] everything went back to normal/expected behavior. Another member seems to has reported a similar issue here:

I reproduced the issue when try to access NAS via SAMBA in linux OS,
The issue hppen on ARM NAS only, x86 NAS is OK.
Thanks for your report,
The issue will be fixed if you change ""vfs objects = aio_linux acl_xattr snapper btrfs" to " vfs objects = acl_xattr snapper btrfs" in smb.conf. Samba
Steps,
1. Enable SSH in Admin GUI settings,
2. Access to NAS via SSH, user: root, password is your password when login admin GUI,
3. Run comand " vi /etc/frontview/samba/smb.conf.Samba",
4. Press "i" key on PC's keyboard,
5. Change "vfs objects = aio_linux acl_xattr snapper btrfs" to "vfs objects = acl_xattr snapper btrfs"
6. Press "Shift" + "!" key on keyboard, and input "wq" to save the configure
if you don't know how to change the config, could do you please let me remote access to your NAS via secure diagnostic mode and help you change it?
How to enable secure diagnostic,
https://kb.netgear.com/27391/ReadyNAS-RAIDar-6-0
or enable secure diagnostic in NAS admin GUI =>System=>Settings=>Support
then PM me 5 digital.

Re: Samba/SMB share access issues with ReadyNAS OS 6.8.0 on RN202
Any change that this code will be in future releases or do we need to change this after every update?
Without this change in smb.conf I can't connect from any Linux desktop to NAS through Samba.
Neither from Nvidia Shield TV - android - linux kernel

Hi All,
We put a patch on update server, if you see the issue on Arm NAS, only need to restart NAS and wait for 5-10 minutes,
It will work.

This is a 6.8.0 issue for Linux SMB access on Arm NAS, don't need to change after every update, we have put a patch on update server, only need to restart your NAS and wait for 5-10 minutes.

Re: Samba/SMB share access issues with ReadyNAS OS 6.8.0 on RN202
i'm having the same issues with SMB access since applying the 6.8.0 update: my Kodi player can see the shares but I can't add folders. I tried restarting the NAS but it did not change the problem. Thanks.

Re: Samba/SMB share access issues with ReadyNAS OS 6.8.0 on RN202
Do you have the "Enhance MacOS" option checked? If so, try disabling it. You could also try 6.8.1 beta, since there is a fix identified in its release notes.

Re: Samba/SMB share access issues with ReadyNAS OS 6.8.0 on RN202
I have a Sony Android TV , the smb share is still a problem, as I cant change anything inside the tv to connect to the nas.
There is mentioning of restarting the NAS, and waiting for 5 minutes, then reconnect and it should work, but still no way to get it working.
There is also a mention about and Update for the NAS, witch I cannot find...
How can i get my NAS to reconnect (work SMB) with Android devices I have? ( Sony TV, Tablet, Samsung Phones?)
Regards
OVH

If you are meaning the 6.8.1 beta, then it is in the beta area here. https://community.netgear.com/t5/ReadyNAS-Beta-Release/ReadyNASOS-6-8-1-T106-Beta-1/m-p/1356177#M970...

Re: Samba/SMB share access issues with ReadyNAS OS 6.8.0 on RN202
Thank you for the reply, but do you know if the Beta will not have the SMB problem?
Edit# just see the linux part is okay then, but not recommended to go Beta... and no way back from Beta, until the new firmware comes out...
So will skip this part, hope there will be another way around this problem.
thnx

Re: Samba/SMB share access issues with ReadyNAS OS 6.8.0 on RN202
Just for anyones interest.
It was mentioned that this fix was for ARM based systems. I have an x86 based system with the same issue and this fix worked for me.

I had the 6.8.0 Version for several days, I restarted the NAS many times as i was having issues with owncloud after the update. Hoever it seems to me it never took the patch. I had to revert back to 6.7.5 and then SMB was fixed. hopefully it will work directly in the 6.8.1.
