Re: Setting up ReadyNAS 314 and CyberPower UPS
Manage UPS Devices
You can manually add, edit, and remove UPS devices as well as monitor the status of connected UPS
devices.
Add a UPS
If your UPS is not automatically detected when you connect it to your ReadyNAS system, you must manually
add the UPS.
To add a UPS:
1. Log in to your ReadyNAS.
2. Select System > Power.
3. If not already expanded, expand UPS.
4. Click the + icon next to the UPS heading.
The pop-up Add UPS window opens. The available settings depend on whether you select SNMP or
Remote in the Type pop-up menu.
5. Configure the settings as explained in the following table:
6. Click the Add button.
The UPS is added to the UPS section.

The above post gives the general directions.
But all you need to do is connect the USB cable betwen the CyberPower and the NAS. The NAS should autodetect, and configure itself.
I have several CyberPowers connected to various ReadyNAS.
I was seeing some UPS communication errors in logs with OS 6 (Netgear tells me that the UPS isn't as "well behaved" over USB as it might be). However, Netgear was able to resolve those, and the UPS is working properly now. But I do see some UPS events in kernel.log.

So do I unplug the USB cable from the computer instead and plug into ReadyNAS? if so how would I then use the computer with the CyberPower?

Yes.

If power failures are infrequent (or short), then one option is to simply not monitor the UPS from the PC. If the UPS battery drains, then the PC will do a forced shutdown (while the NAS will do a graceful one). I do that with one of my PCs.
A second option is to install the NUT software on the PC, and use it to monitor the UPS through the ReadyNAS via the PC's ethernet connection. You'd need to connect the ReadyNAS and the PC to the same router/switch, and make sure that the router/switch is also protected by the same UPS.
Or of course get a second UPS for the PC.

Re: Setting up ReadyNAS 314 and CyberPower UPS
Thanks for the information, attched the USB cable to NAS and it configurated automatically, not fimiliar with configuring NUT software so will decided to use NAS or PC with the UPS, I do have a serial port on the UPS but I don't think I could run both simultaneously.

Re: Setting up ReadyNAS 314 and CyberPower UPS
If all you want to do is have the PC monitor the UPS that's attached to the NAS, there's not a lot of configuring to do. Just Google "NUT for Windows". The latest MSI is a beta from a couple years ago, but it's stable for what you need.
