Share over the internet
Hi,
I want to use my readynas as a fileserver for external users. I would ike to ad the nas as a extarnal hd on a users pc in another network.
We are both homeworkers in the same company and need acces to shared files.
I have opened the ports and i can see the nas at the other users pc. I can't get the share to work. I cannot enter the admin panel, i cannot login with users id and password. The nas keeps prompting for "admin". The admin password does get rejected to. What do i do wrong?

Re: Share over the internet
I'm not sure how you are sharing or what ports you forwarded.
I don't recommend forwarding the SMB ports - that is not very secure. Instead set up FTP on the NAS, and forward ports for that. If this is an OS6 NAS, set it up to require ftps.
Then use a client like FileZilla to access the NAS remotely.

Re: Share over the internet
A VPN would work.
What ReadyNAS model do you have, and what firmware is it running?
