UPS Communication

Has anyone has recent issues with UPS communications?

I have two ReadyNAS PRO 2 and they suddenly starting having UPS communication issues.
One of them has the UPS master and broadcast UPS status.

Two days ago they started have alerts every two minutes.

I have since put the UPS on another NAS as master and have them talk to it that way.

It seems to be working now, but I am still getting communication errors.

The new Master is not giving me any errors with the UPS so I am assuming the UPS is ok it is the deamon for the UPS on the readynas that is causing the issues.

Has anyone updated the package and has that resolved anyone issues

(both PRO 2 are updated to 6.2.4)

Thanks

Re: UPS Communication

What UPS model are you using. Does it use a normal USB cable or a USB to RJ50 cable?
I was having communication errors with 2 separate APC units that use the RJ50 connector. I needed to upgrade anyway and the new unit has a normal USB cable. Errors disappeared.

Re: UPS Communication

Hello Cliff_MI,

Since your ReadyNAS Pro 2 is running an OS6 firmware. Please try disabling the Antivirus and see if same error. Then enable it again then continue to check if you get the same error.

Re: UPS Communication

I will try that,  funny that would cause an issue.  It just started when I updated to 6.2.4

I am using a cyberpower 625VA UPS with USB connection to the NAS.

I have hooked it up to another brand NAS and getting info off from it.

I have not gotten any error messages on the new NAS controling it, but continue to get error messages.

Failure to communicate with UPS and then 5 sec later saying that it is working again.

This goes on every few hours.

I got so tired of the issue that I deleted the UPS off of the NAS.

I will re connect and see if it changes.

Re: UPS Communication

I tried all of that.

No I can't seem to get the UPS network feature to work at all.

Will work on the individual machine that I plug it into but now I can't connect to it with any other device.

(I just changed some hardware switching in my network and that might be the cause of that issue)

Does anyone know what port NUT looks for?  I need to see if that is blocked.

Thanks
