did use this guide
please help
OS6 in 3 Steps: 1. Download pre modified IMG, (see link above to see what has been modified)
2. Upgrade firmware in Frontview 4.2 (with above file)
3. Reboot & factory default
Optional: R4toR6_Prep_Addon.bin (26 KB) (upload before modified IMG, don't reboot, avoids the need for manual factory default in between)
This has been tested on Pro6s and Ultra6s.

Re: problem whit ultra 2 and 6.1.6
Have you rebooted?
Have you tried different browsers?
Also clear the browser cache and also make sure the NAS IP address is in trusted sites and that the security certificate is regenerated. I would delete the old one.
Can you browse the shares?
I hope you made sure you had a backup before doing this.
Was 4.2.26 lacking something you wanted?

Ok.
If the NAS contains your primary data and any of it is not easily replaceable you should put a backup plan in place.

Re: problem whit ultra 2 and 6.1.6
I have the same problem with my Ultra 2.
All other web services (Transmission, SABnzbd, Sickbeard... are still accessible)
I tried rebooting many times, multiple browsers on multiple computers (tried on OSX, Linux and even Windows...), but couldn't get past the "NETGEAR ReadyNAS Version 6.1.6" screen.
Is there a way to reset the device to factory defaults through SSH? (SSH is still available)
Or if you want some kind of error report/log, please ask.

Re: problem whit ultra 2 and 6.1.6
The newest chrome seems to get stuck on the 6.1.6 page, though firefox worked for me.
On your main question, this post predates OS6, but it might work: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=62028#p357734

Re: problem with ultra 2 and 6.1.6
Note also that a factory default would do a clean install of 6.1.6 on your system
