ReadyNAS NV+ won't power up
My question is I bought it Jan of 2007 before Infrant was bought by NetGear. Do I still have a valid warranty with this unit?
By power up, I mean it is dead. As if the power cord was not plugged in. No sign of life.
Thanks,
K

- dbott67GuideWhat is the serial number of the NV+?

The ReadyNAS systems affected have Serial numbers between 000DA2010FFE and 000DA2016000. If you are unsure if your serial number falls within the hexadecimal range, you can use a hex calculator. (Click hex and overwrite the '0' with your serial number and click dec. If the number falls in the range of 58552553470 and 58552573952, then you should proceed with this service action.)...
Although the warranty on Infrant-branded units is only one year, if your SN does fall within range, you should contact Netgear support for your area to arrange for a replacement.

Thanks for the response. My ReadyNas is within the range that has the problem.
Since it was out of warranty I opened it up and saw that it uses a ATX power supply. I am wondering if I can use a ATX supply from a spare computer until the replacement arrives.
Thanks,
K - dbott67GuideThe NV+ uses a standard ATX PSU with a modified power connector:

Just enough mods to teach the MB how to smoke if tried without knowing about the pinout change???
Or does it just not work?
-Enjoy

Smoke is the secret ingredient. Once you let the smoke out, it stops working.- dbott67Guide
- k_nasAspirantDave,
Thanks for all the info.
Talked to NetGear support (866-252-9921) and they were very helpful. Actaully I was very impressed by how everything was handled. They are sending me a free replacement PSU even thought it was a Infrant branded box and was out of warranty. All the tech needed was a receipt, so I just emailed him a copy.
Thanks,
K - madbytesAspirantAfter 2 months of trying to get support, PMing back and forth and calling tech I was finally told today that because it only had a 1 year warranty I can either fix it myself or buy a new unit. I used the calculator that the post above says and my result was 58552564188 which falls within that range. Still I was offered no help. I'm really disappointed in the amount of money I spent on 2 of these units only to have to go through all this trouble for nothing. This will definitely be the last Netgear product my company will own. Now I have to drop $120 on a power supply I could have purchased two months ago and not had all this down time. Pretty pitiful customer service.
- arnie1AspirantHi,
My NAS has just died, and the model number does fall within this range...who should i contact to get a replacement? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredRing NetGear using numbers found in the "Other Numbers" link in my sig. If they don't replace it post your case number and mention the region you are in. If you are in the US they definitely should replace it.
