Purchased Router and installed Dec 2016. Has worked fine until 3 weeks ago when 2.4ghz kept dropping internet. I have reset the router, rebooted, restored to factory default settings, tested my modem and internet provider. All is working fine but the router will show no internet for 2.4ghz. I have several devices that will only work with 2.4ghz and I am very frustrated. I have tried to backdate the firmware (currently using v. 1.0.1.20) to an earlier version but the web service automatically updates the firmware back to version 20. The netgear genie app will not access the router update and routerlogin.net gives an error so I have to do it via http://192.168.1.1. Is there a solution to this problem? I have not been able to find one that works from the netgear community. Also have tried to call Netgear and was on hold for two hours, then they disconnected. Please help...SolvedDevices Not Connecting To 2.4ghz
This seems to be a common issue from my searching however, I have yet to find a solution. It's been over a week that I have not been able to connect to my 2.4ghz frequency on my router. The only time that devices can connect to my 2.4ghz is when the encryption/security is turned off. The router is six months old and any older/newer device that sees the 2.4ghz frequency will not connect to it. If the device sees the 5ghz frequency it'll connect. Unfortunately, I have some devices that only see the 2.4ghz that will not connect to it. Here is additional information: Device is WNDR3400v3 with firmware V1.0.1.2_1.0.51 2.4ghz and 5ghz frequency have different SSIDs Both Frequencies have different passwords. Both Frequencies use the same encryption WPA2-PSK[AES] Devices that connect by hardwire directly to the router work fine Devices using 5ghz work fine Access Control is turned on; never had any issues with this. Devices that are connecting the 2.4ghz is not showing up in the log at all I've rebooted the router several times I've tried to take it back to the factory default which never worked. Here is some additional information. If Access Control is turned on I can see the devices Mac address appear in the connected list of devices but an IP is not being assigned and the device is not connecting. If I turn off Access Control the device still does not connect. Any help would greatly appreciative.Solvedr6900 dropping internet connection on 2.4, not 5.0
My Router R6900 with Firmware V1.0.1.36 continues to drop Internet on 2.4GHz for Windows 10 PC's, Macs, iPads. I have been using the R6900 for almost 2 years, and in the last few weeks began to have issues. I updated to Firmware V1.0.1.34 several weeks ago, and I don't recall if the Internet dropping issue started before or after that firmware update. Last week I updated Firmware to V1.0.1.36 and while I am dropping less often I still drop Internet a couple times a day on 2.4GHz (while wired and 5.0GHz remain connected). Via another device (connected via 5.0GHz), I can modify the Channel Selection on 2.4GHz (thru Netgear Genie) and restore the Internet connection for 2.4GHz. Each time the Internet connection drops (2-3x per day) I have been repeating that process.Solved5.8KViews0likes7CommentsC6300 2.4GHz wifi radio stops working and requires reboot
I have a new c6300 that I bought and installed a few weeks back with firmware V2.01.14 and configured to only operate the 2.4GHz wifi radio, i.e. I have the 5.0GHz wifi radio unchecked/disabled in advanced | advanced setup | wireless settings because i only need/use the 2.4GHz wifi radio. What im finding is that every week or so, seemingly after making use of wifi network by my mobile devices to carry out mobile OS updates, that the 2.4GHz wifi radio stops working. By that i mean the SSID no longer shows up in available wifi networks on my laptops, tablets and phones and for those that are already configured with that wifi network ssid & password they are unable to connect. The only resolution Ive been able to arrive at is to visit the c6300s administration web UI advanced view and select the "reboot" option after which the 2.4GHz wifi radio starts showing up and working again for all my devices configured to use it. Does this sound like something others have also experienced b4 that has a known fix or a firmware update that addresses it? Thanks, Robert.Solved4.2KViews0likes1CommentMystery of two C6300 cable modem router with dual band wifi.
I have identical c6300 installed at 2 homes (not next door) with exactly the same setup and configuration. Both c6300 have same type and firmware level Dlink cameras connected using wifi. Wifi setting is 2.4Ghz, broadcast, auto channel selection, speed up to 450Mbps, wpa and wpa2 security selected. One c6300 connects with no problem what so ever. The other devices triy to connect to 2.4Ghz but will drop. I checked and confirmed as well as change passphrase. Devices that cannot connect include ipad 3&4, kindle hdx, win10 laptop with dual band n. Only device that can connect at both site ont the 2.4Ghz is a LG LGMS323 android phone. Comcast at both site. Let me know if I can provide you with additional details. Thanks3.3KViews0likes3CommentsNetwork Monitor not tracking wireless with 5ghz off
As it says in the title, the OS does not recognize any data flow with 5ghz disabled. I have no need of 5ghz so I keep it off but 2.4ghz is on and my mobile is connected to it. Also, the Device Manager shows my wireless as being offline on the Network Map. What gives? If I could suggest, a simple solution to this would be to seperate the wireless into the two wavelengths. I have been having this issue since day one with Orbi. I don't understand why they do not create an option where there is a drop down for all the connected macids that say "dual", "5ghz" or "2.4ghz". Let me explain my situation. I have nest cams and wifi doorbell that are connected to 5ghz. As we know 5ghz doesnt penetrate walls well, so the connection is slow. They would be better off on 2.4ghz but orbi keeps them on a slow 5 ghz connection. My solution is very simple from a programming standpoint and would solve all my issues. Curious what group thinks. Thanks
