My NAS went into safe mode this afternoon. My conclusion is that i might need to re-install the OS. The documentation page on the netgear site is unavailable and i have found some instructions but are not explicit enough to move forward. Could someone please provide detailed instructions as i cannot afford to lose the data on these disks. This NAS had been working fine and for no reason lost contact with the network. I needed to power cycle it and it has set itself to the basic configuration. I can see that the disks are all present and in a RAID 5 configuration.54Views0likes4CommentsReadyNAS104 assistance needed
Hi, I have an old ReadyNAS 104 that apparently just crashed. I can get it to reboot and I can access it from a browser but it shows the volume as new? I have 4 - Toshipba 3 TB drives in a RAID 4 configuration. I have attempted to access the BOOT menu by rebooting the NAS with my finger on the power button but that does not appear to work. When I look at the drives they are all showing green but "new" and the volume I had for many years is now gone. Please help43Views0likes2CommentsReadyNAS Pro 6 - Stuck on booting while checking fs
I have searched for similar errrors on here, but none seem to either work or be related as to my situation. My Pro 6 just started to freeze a couple days ago while it was running. I had updated it to OS6 a long while ago. Thinking it might just be a random error, I restarted the device and now it gets to the checking root fs and stops around half way (sometimes more or less). I have tried the following: OS Reinstall - Completes and boots to same percentage. Disk Tests ran fine and rebooted itself (though now this is no longer an option in the boot menu) USB Recovery ran and shutdown. Boots back to same percentage. Tech Support mode works Tried start_raids and it seemed to see every drive. Ran some mdadm commands to examine the drives and array as found in other posts on here with no glaring errors found. Running a 'smartctl -t long /dev/sda' now. Not sure what else to do to get it to boot so I can get my files (prefer it to continue being useful but can get soem other NAS and move my data as long as I can get to it). Thoughts/ideas/help? Thank you.183Views1like27CommentsreadyNAS 104 doesn't start properly
Hello community, I'm french so i'm sorry for my english level. Topic: Suddenly my NAS didn't start properly. I pushed on start button and the NAS started but stopped after 2 seconds. I retried but did the same. I have tried to change the electrical plug but didn't change the situation. I have get out the 4 hard drives and the NAS started, booted during 1 min until 100% and writen on the front screen "in safe mode". I tried again installing the 4 hard drives and the problem appeared again. Now i don't access to my datas and i dont know if the hard drives are corrupted or if the problem comes from the NAS itself?! I had the opportunity to get a second identical NAS 104 but i'm afraid to install my hard drives into, starts the Readynas and loose my datas. If i remember well i'm in raid X. My last opportunity is to use RS raid retrieve software but it should be an other story! If anybody has a suggestion please let me know!436Views0likes33CommentsSparc NV+ says "Disk 4 sync"
Unit's been working great but Tuesday morning I tried to "Download all logs" and waited for the "Download to..." dialog to instead browser saying it had lost contact. Power button seemed non-responsive so I pulled the plug on it. Boot try appeared to be working in that it showed "Quota chk" and blinking Act led for a few hours but then the Act led extinguished. Late that same day still sitting there apparently dead I ran RAIDar and it said "File system 100%" but still not booted or running services or responding to kiTTY though I could ping it. Made another identical attempt yesterday morning, to identical results this a.m., so I tried next Boot Menu's Skip volume check. After a couple of hours display says "Booting..." and "Disk 4 sync" and while the blue Power button is pulsing, the Act LED has not blinked for quite a while and the 4 disk LEDs are steady. Question is: do I wait on this thing as if it is indeed doing something, or should a "Disk sync" be accompanied by an Act or Disk LED blinking? Oh, now RAIDar is not finding it either which is not a happy thing. Running last 4.1.16 iirc.92Views0likes7CommentsRN314 don't boot anymore after trying to fix "no space left on device" error.
Hi, Here's the full story that led me to a ReadyNAS RN314 that no longer starts with a "flush_space+5a" message on the LCD. Actually, after seeing that I lost (I mean visible on the network) the SMB, NFS shares from my RN314 I tried to login via the Web UI. But each time it was looping on the login screen until it asked me to follow th recovery password procedure that I did not follow. Instead I logged in via SSH and I discovered that the OS was complaining about "no space left on device" on the / (root) making /tmp unsuable for all the pplications! I ran the command df to see where the space was really missing and there was still almost 1TB on the data file system (/dev/md127) and 1,3 GB on the / (/dev/md0) and ieven the I-nodes were not used at 100%. Weird as I was not able to still create a file in /tmp (no space left on device), it should be something related to btrfs. I deleted some log files from /var/log to free some MB and I tried to check the /dev/md0 with the command btrfs filsystem check / (if I rember well the syntax). It ran the night and when I wake up the ssh connection was closed. I reconnected and it says that the filesystem was in read only. Then I asked a reboot and unfortunatly the NAS stop booting with the LCD displaying "flush_space+5a" msg and since it does boot anymore. After googled a bit, I found that maybe reinstalling the OS via the boot menu can soved the issue without loosing all my 8TB of data. I tried and unfortunatly no change I got still the "flush_space+5a" like in the normal boot mode. I don't want to try the USB recovery method as I understood well the /dev/md0 will be reflashed and all my data on /dev/md127 will be reset loosing all my data. I there a way to boot like in Tech support mode (via the boot menu) or an other way to gain access to my data that I could backup on an external disk before resting everything. I hope I will not loose almost 10 years of data. Br, Cataldo. PS: The firmware installed was the latest available.Solved2.3KViews0likes26CommentsUnable to Reset for OS reinstall and RNDP4000 Pro 4 Now Not Able to Access Admin Page
Model: RNDP4000 RAIDar ver: Maybe 4.x ++ I forget the password and I did reset the password from "https://ReadyNAS_IP_address/password_recovery" but then I did not receive the password reset link. So I move forward to another solution which is go to the use the paperclip to press the reset button and go to boot menu to perform OS reinstall. I have followed the guide from online, click the reset button from behind, then use the "backup" button to select "OS reinstall" but i keep pressing "backup" it can't navigate to "OS reinstall" option and keep showing me "Boot Menu" and the first disk LED is light up. May refer to the picture 1. I am stuck here, when I want to make sure my data inside is whether safe or not by typing the NAS IP on browser, it no longer exist and I tried to ping the NAS IP from CMD it no response. I tried to use RAIDar to scan the device it showed no result. I have rebooted the NAS multiple times after this, the LAN cable port doesn't light up meaning no connection to my LAN network, but before I press reset all things are good I able to login and view the stored file. I am in the middle on both way now, which unable to reset admin password and unable to connect my NAS back to LAN. 😰😰😰😰 Any one please help.. as this device already 12 years long and no longer support by NETGEAR1.2KViews0likes12CommentsReadyNAS NV+ RND4250: keeps booting since hours - unable to connect, not found by RAIDar
My ReadyNAS NV+ RND4250 worked for years (over 20...) without any problems. There are two disks in its slots. Few days ago the device stopped being accessible from my windows10 PC while daily incremental backup job was running. Since shutting down gracefully (for reboot purpose) did not work that way I forced shutting down the device by unplugging it. After plugging it in again and restarting it by pressing the power button "normally" (shortly), the device did a "quota check" (message on front display) sucessfully (100%) and then prompted the message "booting..." on the display, furthermore I got an e-mail with message text: "RAID sync started on volume C". [Thu Jun 13 09:10:41 CEST 2024]. In this state it is now since more than 7 hours: In the displays it says "booting...". The LED of the 2 installed disks light in steady green, the ACT LED is off (see photo) and the power button is blinking blue (once in a second or so). I tried to access the ReadyNAS from a Windows7 PC as well using RAIDar, without success. The device responds to PING command from windows command prompt normally, however it is not connectable by using e.g. NET USE command. - for how long does it make sense to let the device "booting..." before force it to shutdown? - what steps should I perform after shutdown? - is it e.g. worth trying to re-install the OS? - what do you recommend further to access the data on my disk(s) again? btw: when trying to acces the device with a browser (Frontview, https://IP-address/admin/), on a Windows7 PC the http request is answerd with just the HTML "frame" of Frontview and that's it (see screenshot). Thank you for your help, appreciate it. Bruno1.6KViews0likes13CommentsReadyNas 104 500 error
Hey Folks! So i forgot my password to get into the readynas (password did not work). I did a os reinstall to reset the password back to default. now when I log in and it asks for the password it seems to work then i get this error. Now when I go to netgear RAIDar and it prompts for the password I try the default and I get this. Hoping someone can help me figure this out!!!Solved5.4KViews0likes53CommentsReadyNas Pro4 does not boot - at 85% fvbackup-q.service - Management service is offline
Hi, My ReadyNAS Pro 4 will not boot anymore. It keeps hanging at 85% fvbackup-q.service, Raidar shows Management service is offline, and I can't login the admin-page anymore. I have already read a lot and tried some things, but without success. I am curious if somebody can help me out with this issue. I have upgraded the Readynas to OS6 last summer 2023 to 6.10.8, with all the good instructions from this community. I use it as COLD storage for backup purpose, so it's turned on like once per week. It ran like stable for 10months, but as of last week, it won't boot again. I have read some related articles from this community, in which I recognize my issue, but can't find the steps to fix it for myself. Management Service offline Unable-to-connect-to-ReadyNAS-Admin-page stuck at 97% and mentions the fvbackup-q.service What I have found out so far: Putty SSH does not work - SSH seems not enabled Putty Telnet does work - I have booted ReadyNAS in Tech Support mode and logged in (nothing more) Memory test was good, 0 errors, it ran for like 24hours, then I manually shutdown the NAS I have used Rsync for backup content to some USB-HDD (formatted EXT4) I really would appreciate the help! Thanks in advance.Solved2.7KViews0likes14Comments
