Hi Everyone, This is my first post here so forgive any newb things i might say... So i have had my nas system for a little while now and i have all 4 bays filled up and I havnt added any drives to it in a while. I mainly use it as a media server for plex so although its not life or death to lose everything it would for sure suck to lose all the data i have aquired over many years. Withou pulling any drives out currently I believe them to all be WD Red. I did a bit of looking in this forum before posting and found some people with similar issues but none really have any solutions yet. I dont knw much about how to read the logs but I did try yo follow along with what some of you were suggest to other people and i didnt see any drive errors in my logs but i can supply them if needed. So The other day i watch watching something from my plex server and it said the serve went offline and when i looked the nas was still connected but the plex app was turned off. I couldnt get it to turn back on. I noticed there was an update for the app so i attempted to install it but it kept coming up with an error and i couldnt figure it out. I had been puting off the nas OS 6.9.0 update for a few months now because last time it made my nas resync and it took almost a full week but I decided to just go ahead and do the update and it appeared to go smoothly but now I get this error message and Im not sure if it always showed 2 volumes on the left hand side or not but im not sure whats going on or what to do. I attempted to remove drive 1 and re insert and it took 2 days to resync but it didnt change anything. I can try the beta 2 release but then I wont have the option for netgear paid support. I dont really want to have to pay for support but I also just wan this fixed and hopefully not lose any data and if possible know what caused it to hopefully prevent it from happening again. Any Ideas??? Sandshark StephenB Skywalker Thanks in advance.862Views0likes2CommentsNot Secure | https://xxx.xxx.x.x/admin/ Using a ReadyNAS 2100

Ah the most dreaded topic. I've gotten a bit complacent since it's been so reliable, I double back up but not everything :( and of course I need it sigh. So I shut my pro pioneer down to replace the battery in the UPS it was connected too. Now it won't power up! I figure no big deal, I have a 550w power supply lying around, I'll just plug it all together to get it running again. I get the wiring all sorted out and the power supply keeps tripping out. I tested no drives plugged and it still trips out. I tested with the 3 molex disconnected and it looks like it boots ok (I didn't bother going very far with it) I tested individual molex and it looks like only the top one is ok that doesn't trip the system. the bottom two make power supply trip out or something. I guess bad controller? Anything else I should try? what are my options? Thank you for your timeSolved5.4KViews0likes20CommentsRN526X with 6x 4TB WD Red PRO. What should I set up this time, my 3rd readynas.
This was a bit unscheduled since I was thinking to just upgrade my pro pioneer drives! However, the pro pioneer appears to have died and I think it's the raid controller causing things not to boot.... Anyhow. So I await my rn526x tomorrow to hopefully see my pro pioneer data to pull off the drives. Also I've found a good enough deal for me and bought 6x 4TB WD Red Pro drives. Historically, I always max out all the bays and never change it. My readynas NV+ still runs as a double back up of important files from my pro pioneer. The pro pioneer was a huge upgrade from my NV+ and I maxed out the drive bays with 6x2TB RE4-GPs... Both times I just went with xraid cause at the time all the talk about best flexibitily and what not I guess. I've been reading some topics here but feel I need to ask for myself :) This time, what should I do... don't bother with xraid? go straight to raid 10? There seems to be some controversy in the forums about raid10 speeds but not sure if it's still applicable today. It's highly unlikely I'll be playing with individual drive sizes, I like to set it and forget it... I was going to replace all the drives in the pro pioneer but the box unexpectedly died. I use it for storage and I while I did dabble with iscsi on the pro pioneer for VMs I didn't really stick with it and opted for raid 0 arrays on local machine. Would probably like to revisit iscsi and hyper-v again on this new nas. Thanks for your thoughts.4.8KViews0likes7CommentsHELP!!! Deleted a User and I Lost my files!
So I am a mac user, but I recently bought a gaming PC to use just for games, I use my ReadyNAS to hold media that I watch on TVs with have mac minis which are HTPC Anyways, my computer came with Windows 10, and as Ive seen in the forums its very difficult to get windows to see and access the files. I had 2 accounts on my ReadyNAS - admin and Server Because Win 10 kept rejecting my username and password, I thought maybe if I deleted the user "Server" and add it back in it might accept the credentials. However when I did this, a huge amount of files disapeared. I was holding those files in \\ReadyNAS\home\Server I hooked up my drives seperatly to a program thats used to recover files. I can see all the files Im missing, however I do not know how to hook up all 6 drives to my PC which I need to do in order to recover those files The files are mostly pictures, my media was not in the same folder thankfully. However those pictures have the birth of my son and wedding, Im stressing!!! How can I get access to these files back, I know theyre there I Can see them in Recaime (a program for windows that I used) Surely there is something I can do to get those files back without losing themSolved4.4KViews0likes11CommentsReadyNAS 104 Help Needed - Uninstalled App and cannot access GUI/Manage device
Hi All, I'm hoping somebody can help me here. A couple of months ago I realised I was no longer able to access the GUI of my ReadyNAS anymore to configure the device. I remember the night before both uninstalling an app at some point and also installing a new firmware when prompted. I can't remember nor am sure which has caused the issue. Since then though I can't connect to the Netgear GUI at all. I can however browse the shares from all devices. I can also use RAIDAR to discover the device, but when I try to use any of the features to gain access I get prompted for a username and password - my original username and passwords do not work anymore so I can't seem to do any more. I tried SSH as found at the below link but it didnt work. https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/Can-t-access-web-GUI-setup/td-p/927583/page/2 Please can somebody offer some help and advice so that I can get my NAS up and running again please? Many thanks Matt2.3KViews0likes1CommentReadyNAS 1100 Bit the Dust in a Move. Any ideas for me?
In the madness of a home move, I left my readynas in my desk. I never dreamed the movers would flip the desk up on its side, but when I saw them do it and I heard my ReadyNAS flop around, I realized it could be a very bad thing. So, I just got my NAS out to power it up and upon putting the cord in and turning it on, nuttin.... No lights, no sounds. Just deadness. So, my thoughts are... Could it just be the power supply? Is there a way to test that? In worst case scenario, can I just take all the drives out and install them into my desktop in a raid formation and pick up where I left off? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Craig2.8KViews0likes7CommentsHelp - Readynas Ultra 4 Plus - I think the Data is okay, but the Readynas is not functioning
So an HVAC tech came out and flip the circuit breakers without my knowledge. Now my Readynas Ultra 4 Plus is not functioning properly. At first I could see it on PC. i could navigate to it by IP and by Hostname. however when I double clicked on one of the shares, it would error out with "network name no longer available." I did a quick google search and saw something about DLNA, however I don't even have DLNA enabled. So thought I do some troubleshooting. I tried to update the firmware and even though I am positive that I downloaded the correct firmware, the GUI states that the firmware file is not supported with this architecture. Update over the internet doesn't work at all, it just sits there when I click the button. So then I thought, hmm, why don't i try disabling CIFS and re-enabling. Now it won't re-enable at all. Raidar reports everything is healthy. The ReadyNas Admin page also seems like everything is okay, However I just can't access the data. For isntance, the home page shows Volume c: Online, X-Raid2, 4 disks, 99% of 5543gb used. Also the health page shows everything as OK. There is nothing in the logs. So what are my options? What would be the best way to get my data? 1) Can I go and get 4 blank drives.. Restore to factory? Then try to put my old drives back in? 2) Do i have to get something like ReClaime or R-Studio to recover my data? b) If so is there any good step by step guide on how to do it? I wish there was a way to do restore the OS to factory without losing the data. I am sure the Raid Partition is in tact, it's just the OS is malfunctioning. Please any help would be greatly appreciated.3.5KViews0likes6Comments
