7 TopicsAC1750 - Genie Parental Control Fails Checking Firmware, OpenDDS working. Wifi Not, Cannot Disable
Hi, Scan topics and have not found solution. AC1750 and Genie Issue, Win10 Pro, Enabled Parental Controls, created OpenDNS and appears all appeared well execept WIFI devices not accessing internet. WIFI devices have connection reported by AC1750 console and Genie. Genie version is 2.4.54, AC1750 is V1.0.1.38_1.0.25 So Trying to reset, undo, DNS via AC1750 Web console. Won't allow modifications without disabling Parental Controls. VIA Genie, appears all menu selections working EXPECT depressing Parental Controls results in failed Checking Router Firwmare, check internet connection.... Thus cannot get past this to disable Parental Controls to reset dns settings to get back to orignal configureation before I let the "genie out of the bottle" Cannot change AC1750 DNS settings to undo OpenDNS settings. Don't want to reset AC1750 due to rules, vpn, vlan settings. So 0) Symantec Endpoint firewall disabled. 1) Ethernet Connections working fine with OpenDNS filtering. 2) Genie will not get past detecting router via Parantel Controls. 3) Wifi Not connecting to internet or to AC1750 web console. WiFi Adapter DNS = 208.67.222.222 , 208.67.220.220 4) Web connection to AC1750 shows all PC and Wireless connections active 5) Netgear Genie Shows Network Connections, Wifi connections, router firmware vesion. 6) Genie > Router Settings > returns V1.0.1.36 as expected. My new router does not filter ANYTHING on the internet for parental controls. I have selected "Moderate" and then customized even more and if I type in very explicit nudity or other sites they freely come up. Am I missing something? I have an openDNS account and parental controls are enabled and saved for "At All Times" Funny, my model doesn't show up at all on this community Nighthawk R8000P, firmware V1.3.0.8_1.2.1SolvedParent control not working (not blocking anything)
I bought Nighthawk(R) X4S R7800 and struggling to get Parent Control working for me. Firmware(v1.0.2.28) and Genie (v2.4.38) are latest versions. I tried forums but could not find much help. Here is what I followed https://kb.netgear.com/25687/How-do-I-configure-Live-Parental-Controls-on-my-NETGEAR-router-using-the-NETGEAR-genie-app Netgear genie says that live Parental Controls are enabled and Filtering level is high. OpenDNS account is also shown properly. I am not using any bypass account as of now. Router is at 192.168.1.1 Router / AP / Bridge Mode ==> Router Mode Internet Setup is showing 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 as DNS servers OpenDNS forum said that LPC and OpenDNS are not compatible and only one should be used. So in opendns, I checked and found no network configured. Also I have restarted everything. Mobile, Laptop and Router few times. Issue: Facebook or adult sites are not blocked on any of the devices that I used. It does not matter if I connect to 2.4GHz or 5GHz. Why am I struggling to configure this simple thing. As I followed the guide, I am thinking that this feature is just broken in Netgear Router or some setting is missing. I have the C7000 Comcast cable modem router and have the genie app installed on my mac and iphone 6plus. I can set the global parental control for any user through opendns but I am not able to set configure device specific web content filtering from the network map in the genie app. The app shows the device is configured to high to block video sharing but I'm still able to get to youtube and espn. Anyone solve this?4.2KViews0likes3CommentsCan I manage Parental Controls for devices via the Network Map?
