Hello, I would like to connect external 2.4GHz antennas to my R7800 – Nighthawk X4S AC2600. I'm wondering why the four antenna ports are numbered 1, 1, 2, 3 (and not 1 to 4). Is there any difference or some kind of dependency between the ports? I would like to install one antenna on each floor (basement, ground floor, upper floor) and one in the garden. I know that MIMO will no longer work. I am only interested in achieving the greatest possible WLAN coverage, not in bandwidth. I already tested it and the coverage works very well for browsing the internet etc. But I get interruptions sometimes when using MS Teams for example. So the question is if it is ok to use 4 independent antennas or may be only 3 are possible. Which ports should I use then? Btw., I'm using openwrt on the devi ce. Thanks!220Views0likes4CommentsR7800: Reset password text gets automatically changed (MAC)
Hello, I own an R7800 and recently my admin password was not accepted. I have reset all parameters using a safe password from apple password manger and confirmed the security answers for the password recovery. Now when I tried to log in again then it failed on both the log in and the password recovery. I realized that when I click on "continue" the text box of the answers gets changed by a random sentence. It changes the answer: "Barxxx" by "jQmFyY2Vsb25h". This second word I can't control and every time I log into the page it changes randomly. I assume the first "encrypted word" has been stored into the router and now I can't find it anymore. I am afraid the router has been hacked. It happened to me some weeks ago and I could completely reset the router and manage to recover everything but now I can't reset the router anymore. Can you please help? Nighthawk x4s R7800. Functionally it seems to be functioning well, but after logging in to the router it takes a moment and shows the number of attached devices but it will not display what they are. When clicking on the "attached devices" window after it has determined the number the message is "please wait a moment" with a circling icon but it never gets past that point. Also, I tried to update the firmware from V1.0.3.92 and it won't reach out to search for the update on the internet (same endless "please wait a moment" event). Trying to load downloaded firmware on my computer, I can direct it to the file but when I try to upload it I also end up in the endless "please wait a moment" event so the firmware does not get loaded. After trying either of those routes I can back out by just pressing any other button in the menu and everything seems ok other than neither of the mentioned objectives were achieved.118Views0likes2CommentsERR_SSL_KEY_USAGE_INCOMPATIBLE NETGEAR Nighthawk(R) X4S R7800
Hello, I can't connect to the GUI of my NETGEAR Nighthawk(R) X4S R7800 via several browsers like Opera, Ecosia etc. and get the Error: ERR_SSL_KEY_USAGE_INCOMPATIBLE (Firefox works so far) There are patches for several other devices regarding that issue as I read in this community. Is there one as well for "NETGEAR Nighthawk(R) X4S R7800"? I just installed the latest firmware now being V1.0.3.92 Thanks and kind regards172Views0likes9CommentsR7800 is not accept reset!
Hi, I need my old router for my home network. I tried to use my login info but it didn't work. I tried to reset with 7 or 10 sec rules but still gateway IP is 10.0.0.1 and not accepting admin/password login info. I reset many times but result is same; like reset was not working on it. After login tries, it asked me questions about my school and friend but I didn't set anything like that! I'm stuck in a vicious circle! What can I do with this brick to use it like in my old happy days? Thanks,Solved174Views0likes4CommentsR7800 Readyshare doesn't work on Windows 11
I have two Netgear routers. One main R7800 and the other R6400v2 connected to it via patchcod operating in AP mode. Both are connected to 2.5" drives via USB. On Win10, access to the USB drives is problem-free, mapping works fine. On Win11, I can't map drives from R7800 - it displays the message "An extended error has occurred". However, I can map a drive from R6400V2. Interestingly, the system does not remember credentials despite selecting the "Remember login credentials" option (you have to enter login data every time you start the system to access the resource) and you can't map a resource by router name, e.g.: \R6400v2\DISK2 - it only works by IP address, e.g. \192.168.1.1\DISK2. Both routers and the computer are in the same workgroup. In the Win11 network environment, R7800 is visible but R6400v@ isn't. SMB1 is enabled, Insecure Guest Login is enabled. I reset the network settings and it doesn't work. What could be the reason for the lack of access to the USB disk on the R7800 via Win11?Solved315Views0likes4CommentsR7800 does not work with DPC3216 modem
Hello everyone, I tried searching for my problem and did not find any solutions. I purchased the R7800 and tried to set it up with my DPC3216 (Spectrum) modem today. I correctly power cycled the modem and connected it to the R7800, and the R7800 had all of the correct lights as solid white. I then tried (via wired connection) to finish the setup process on my PC. The negear genie popped up in my firefox browswer. I tried to do the automated setup process (did not work) and also manual setup process (also did not work). The internet works fine if I connect my PC directly to the modem and power cycle the modem. The internet also works fine if I go back to my old tp-link router and power cycle the modem. I also power cycled the modem with my PC directly connected (internet worked) and then attempted to use the R7800 and clone the MAC address of my PC. This still did not work. Has anyone gotten the R7800 working with the DPC3216 modem? I have spent several hours troubleshooting multiple combinations of solutions and am really stuck here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.Solved8.3KViews0likes6CommentsCameras connected to router Via Powerline plugs Kill my internet when turned on.

When I'm checking my "Attached Devices" it does not show the bandwidth usage from any device, even if the device(s) are using the internet. I have "Enable Auto Refreshing" checked. The only way for me to see it work is to reboot the router, but after a while it stops again. I thought the last firmware update had fixed it but I was wrong.
