ReadyNAS Network Storage
32 TopicsConnecting Storage Devices to Orbi or other WiFi7 Mesh Satellite Solutions
Orbi RBE77i Tri-Band WiFi 7 Several suggestions: 1) on your product family comparisons add that this product does not support connectivity of external storage devices such as standalone SSDs or NAS solutions. 2) add external storage connectivity to your WIFi7 Product families. It would seem logical that anyone willing to pay premium pricing for a WiFi 7 Mesh solution (i.e. early adopter) would also be interested in their own "private cloud" capabilities. Just a thought. dalg187Views0likes1CommentCU-Ball
I'm a Conceptual Designer and have been working on a full range of integrated products for Home Networking Systems that may be of great interest to NETGEAR & Major Cable Providers. This system greatly reduces ‘back of TV wiring’, support calls and DIY install time and frustration. The current range of products include: Power Supply Cable Modem Set Top Box WiFi 7 Router DVR - eSata Battery Backup - UPS (Dependent on capacity, this maybe simply a battery backed alarm and status module, optionally wired to a hidden larger, 3rd party unit.) Blu-Ray DVD Streaming Box Connected Speakers Bluetooth Speakers Home Automation (Displays on TV). Home Security Service (Displays on TV) Jump Drive Interface Voice Remote Control Charging Station Smartphone / App Integration Totally new design concept. There is a long term upgrade path that ensures that new technology can be incorporated for years to come. There is a backward compatibility that allows mix and matching with legacy products There are two physical variations at price points that allow for marketing differentiation. (Perhaps Branded Elite and White Box OEM) The questions are: What am I missing? What is the best approach to pitch this range ? 1/ NETGEAR 2/ Charter / Comcast etc... as they may provide the basic units on subscription? 3/ Other.. Please specify. As this range is pre-patent, more in depth discussions maybe subject to NDA.456Views0likes0CommentsRAX120 USB HDD SLEEP
This should be an easy change to add the ability to set a sleep timeout for USB attached hard drives. My RX500 nighthawk would alow my attached drive to spin down when not in use (which is most of the time). I upgraded to the RAX120 due to its 5g port and higher data transfer rate on the USB drive but it is very wastful to have the drives spun up 24/7. I am extremely disappointed with this inefficient oversight.179Views0likes0CommentsDecentralized Identity
The ReadyCloud suite should be taken a step further and support decentralized identities. Currently I run a Diatum node [https://diatum.org ] on a RaspberryPi and use IndiView [https://github.com/rolandosborne/IndiView] for social media, but this is a hobbiest solution. If routers would support decentralized identities, it would be a solution for everyone, giving people back control of their data and a sense of privacy. Please save the internet, Netgear :)181Views0likes0CommentsMaking external USB storage useful
With an attached USB drive and ReadyShare, you are limited to individual folders with a size of 196MB. The most likely use for attached storage is to attach USB drive for backup purposes, as opposed to file sharing or the storage of individual files. There is no possibility of backing up anything except the smallest of devices in 196MB, and possibility to set up auto-backup of any system to the shared drive. The GUI for ReadyShare indicates the total space of the folder, but does not provide any way to create folders / volumes to the size of the attached drive. The suggestion is to make ReadyShare more useful, like a NAS drive. I am not looking or expecting high performance throughput, simply the ability to use the attached storage as a backup device.603Views0likes8CommentsReadyShare Print for RAX80
I have the Nighthawk AX8, model RAX80. The firmware version is V1.0.4.120_1.0.61. I am running Windows 10 on all systems. I needed stronger wifi for my business. I chose this router, which is awesome, based on the reviews and number of ethernet and usb ports. However, unlike my previous Nighthawk router, it does not support ReadyShare Print. I desperately need this for my business! When is this coming??219Views1like0CommentsNetgear R6700 URL encrypt in NAS URL in Addr Bar?? - readyshare.routerlogin.net
What is adding extra characters after all URLs connected to my Netgear R6700 such as: 192.168.1.1 vs http://192.168.1.1/start.htm?y7bRbp=artjdljroij_A7VgW9COAYFFDEMXYa7LJLOIUOIUbo4xocKPGCDp4VO26X4yUjxUF7JOJjoidjoiueo_wnM6xnn_VJIq75_Q91rJPxPjcusI8BQVik6kJu98Cahti_kkjdgduhsiuisjueu =========================================== and NAS accessing http://readyshare.routerlogin.net/shares/USB_Storage/?y7bRbP=zrhUqrzsmSLvBSoeIlMdejOOEREcLzHpSlIjk.5.ANFS instead of JUST http://readyshare.routerlogin.net/shares/USB_Storage/ in the browser address bar. --------------------------------------------------------------- I'm unable to update .txt files with notepad on the NAS. I'm not sure if this cert or what ever this Netgear URL logic is causing the issue.
