Hello, I am following the directions on how to properly setup a promiscuous port on a private vlan that allows communication between the two associated community ports. I am unable to add more than one secondary vlan in the interface and the manual clearly says it's possible so I must be missing some nuance. VLAN Type Configuration 20 - Primary 21 - Community 22 - Community Private VLAN Association Primary 20 --- Secondary 21-22 --- Community 21-22 Port Mode Configuration I8 - Promiscuous (LAG) Private VLAN Promiscuous Interface Configuration Here is page 180 of the manual under: Private VLAN promiscuous interface: Assign the interface to primary and secondary VLANs ... ... 9. In the Promiscuous Primary VLAN field, specify a primary VLAN ID. You can select a VLAN for which you configured the type as Primary (see Assign a private VLAN type to a VLANonpage171). 10. In the Promiscuous Secondary VLAN field, specify one or more secondary VLAN IDs. You can specify VLANs for which you configured the type as Isolated or Community, both of which are secondary VLAN types within a private VLAN. You can specify a single VLAN ID, a range of VLAN IDs, or a combination of both in sequence separated by a comma (,): You can specify an individual VLAN ID, such as 10. You can specify the VLAN range values separated by a hyphen, for example, 10-13. • You can specify a combination of both separated by commas, for example: 12,15,40–43,1000–1005, 2000. ERROR Error: Value (0) is out of range for 'Promiscuous Secondary VLAN'. The valid range is 2 to 4095. I have tried to add 2 secondary vlans with the comma approach 21,22 and with the hyphen approach and both give the same error. The Secondary VLAN field only accepts 1 vlan so how do you configure a promiscuous port in a private vlan? How can I delete "admin"?
Hello. I'm using netgear's L2 switch(M4300-48X). For CSAP certification(it's a kind of Korean IaaS certification), I have to delete account 'admin'. But whenever I try to delete, it shows message unable to delete(or change) this account. Please tell me how to delete it.29Views0likes0CommentsDiscovery Tool - no network options in drop down
I am trying to use the NETGEAR Discovery Tool on a relatively fresh installation of Windows 11 Pro. I have confirmed that sharing and network discovery are enabled on the computer, but don't know where else to look. I have another identical computer on our network with the same settings and it works as intended. I spoke with support and they told me to check my services, but they all are running. Any help would be appreciated!Auto Voice VLAN setup
We are looking to isolate our VoIP traffic to its own VLAN. For a number of reasons, we'd like this to happen without needing to configure each phone. It looks like Netgear switches support this. Unfortunately, the documentation is scattered and in many cases outdated. I'm hoping some folks here can show me where we're going wrong. Goals: Voice VLAN = 88. Ports 1-44 set to untagged VLAN 1 and VLAN 88. Default to 1 unless MAC address prefix matches a VoIP device. Ports 45-46 are for router for Voice-VLAN and has no access to VLAN 1. Ports 47-48 are for router normal VLAN (1) and has no access to VLAN 88. Ports 49-52 are uplinks and should carry traffic for both VLANs. The phone should be able to operate in pass-through mode, and devices behind them should default to VLAN 1 as they normally would. Currently I am facing two issues: When I plug in a phone with matching MAC prefix, it is not being pushed to VLAN 88. I'm unable to outright disable Voice-VLAN (88) on ports 47-48. I'll add some screenshots of the current config in a follow-up post. Hopefully some kind network admin will take a look and be able to spot where I'm going wrong.367Views0likes11CommentsShare internet between two Vlans on a netgear GS724TV4
Hi So I been trying for altmost 2 days to set up my netgear GS724TV4, which is a managed layer3 switch, but does not have capability to create a DHCP server. I am running a webserver and email server, and would like to seperate this from my private network, in case of hacking. So I though I would make two Vlan, lets say vlan1 for private and vlan100 for the server. ISP fiber to my house -> deco X10 setup (internet Vlan id 101 - 802.1q tag) -> unmanaged layer3 switch that provides my netgear with 2 patch cabels in port12 and 13 I have attached a screenshot of my setup and here is some info: port 2 and 3 my private network. port 12 and 13 - Conntect to an unmanaged switch, where my internet patch-cable is connected. port 24 - my server Since I dont understand inter-routing my idea was to have 2 vlans, where vlan1 had port 1-12 untagged and vlan2 had 13-24 untagged, and both vlans would get internet via port 12 or 13. Could somebody tell me if and how to set this up? Help is greatly appriciated178Views0likes1CommentConfigure SSL/HTTPS for GS724TPV2 and GS752TPv3
Hi All, I am looking to enable HTTPS for all my Netgear Switches (GS724TPV2 and GS752TPV3). But I cannot import the self-signed certificate that I have already got available. I feel like I'm missing a vital step, and was wondering if someone is able to help me on this? Looking forward to hearing some advice. Hi, Has anyone got confirmation that heat is the cause of restarting the switch ? Did replacing a factory installed PSU help ? I`m having restarts quite often - twice a day or one restart in 2-3 days. The restarting unit is the backup one, (the restarting unit is allways the warmer one). It becomes unstable when reaching 64-65C. The fans duty levels are constant and I haven`t seen it changing above 27%,(mboard about 5200 rpm, PSU 4600 rpm), but the switch is burning up. I`m running the latest firmware 12.0.17.12 upgraded from 12.0.17.9. (the restarts were also before the upgrade) Similar cases: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Managed-Switches/M4300-24X-sudden-restarts/m-p/1862083 https://community.netgear.com/t5/Managed-Switches/M4300-24x-spontaneous-reboots-dispite-latest-firmware/m-p/1641688#M6574 Regards,1.8KViews0likes6CommentsGS724T v?
I have a customer with 4 gs724t smart switches. They recently had a audit (they are afinancial institution), and the audit recommended they thurn off telnet. On the v4 of this switch the GUI interface has the option to turn telnet on and off by going to maintenance->Troubleshooting->Remote Diagnostics. On their switch the GUI in the same place does not have the Remote Diagnostics option. I am guessing they are v3 or earlier. Is there a firmware upgrade for this or is there a different way to turn off telnet? There is no console port on these switches that I can see.Solved4.2KViews0likes10CommentsFAN loud XS508M
Dear all, I hope I get some tips for my problem what I have and maybe many others. I bought a XS508M unmanaged switch, a nice one but I am in shock about the very very noisy fan inside. I like to use it in a study room where I work and my wife too. This is unacceptable noise in the room. Now I can do two things returning the switch or I replace the fan with some issues with my warranty . I searched the internet and see more people have fan issues with switches. Who can help me out what fan I can use to replace without troubles and like a plug and play solution if possible. I am technical so I can do it . I see Sanyo Denki and other brands but I like an easy swap and a quiet good cooling fan. Thank you for all the help.1.7KViews0likes4Comments
