4644 TopicsScary warning: 40 Mhz and 20 Mhz coexistence?
So I use my Mac's Wireless Diagnostics WiFi scanner tool to find the best 2.4G and 5G wifi channles to use, then enter my two selected channels into the Wireless Settings page of the Netgear Orbi web console. When I apply the changes, I get the following scary message: "Per Wi-Fi Alliance guidelines for 40 Mhz and 20 Mhz coexistence, even if you select 'Up to 400Mbps' mode, your product’s service rate might drop to 20 Mhz. This typically corresponds to 192 Mbps performance." I have no idea what this means or what it is attempting to convey. Does anyone know? Nothing mentioned on the forums and nothing shows up when I google it. It says the same thing no matter what channels I use, as soon as I hit Apply. Does this mean setting specific (least 'chatty') channles may worsen my wifi speed?SolvedOrbi satellite stuck on solid blue
I have an orbi rbr50 and rbs50. They have been great until a few days ago I noticed the satellite led lit solid blue and won't turn off. Solid blue for 10 seconds means a stable connection but it would always turn off after some time. Now it's on solid all the time. Connection is fine I believe so it's more of a nuisance since it's in my bedroom and is pretty bright. Firmware v on both is v1.12.0.18Best way to add 2.4 gHz ONLY devices to Orbi mesh network?
I have many different devices on my network that can connect only to 2.4gHz. Obviously, with a mesh network, the broadcast frequency is automatically chosen in the background. Because I have such good coverage everywhere in my house now, it is impossible to force these devices on to the slower frequency. This is the case with my security cameras, wireless thermometers, etc. The only solution I seem to find is one that involves changing command lines which seems ridiculous to me. Is there a quick and easy way to turn off 5gHz temporarily to program new devices? I have also tried turning down the 5gHz power as well, with no progress.SolvedCorrect settings for optimal usage for orbi
I am running firmware V2.1.1.16 and it is showing my Orbi Satellite status as poor and all my devices are showing as connecting to the router even though the router is located further away. I have moved the satellite to various spots and sometimes it is good but still the devices connect to the router. I would love to have a guide or some guidance on the best settings and practices for this router as I am extremely dissatisfied with the performance and the money I have spent. Can someone tell me should these be checked? Enable Daisy-Chain Topology Enable Implicit BEAMFORMING - Boosts WiFi speed, reliability, & range for all mobile devices Enable MU-MIMO Enable Fast Roaming I have read that the 2.4MHZ channel should be set to 1,6,11 for optimal settings. Is this true for the orbi? What is the best firmware to be on and what settings will give the best performance. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!SolvedOrbi Satellite RBS50 Pulsing White Forever
Hello. Last night I realized that my Orbi satellite was not connected, so I attempted a reset on both the router and satellite mutiple times, and now, the satellite keeps pulsing white, never connecting with the router. The router is running firmware V2.0.0.74. I don't know what firmware satellite is running, because it never turns solid white. It's been pulsing white for almost 18 hours now. We are running this $400 wifi with just the router.SolvedWhat does purple on the router (not satellite) mean?
I've had the Orbi system up for a few days now, but someone who was home through the day today (while I was at work) noted that a couple of times through the day, the purple LEDs on the Orbi unit came on - once "for a brief while" (I'm assuming 3 seconds) and another time "flashing". I'm set up in AP mode. I know that if the satellite does this, it's having trouble syncing with the router (even though the connection seems solid and less than 15 feet separate them between floors) - what does it mean if the router itself shows purple? Also (and almost certainly unrelated), I've noticed a number of "Internet connected" entries in the logs on an otherwise completely-solid gigabit connection (without any accompanying disconnected messages) - are these generated on DHCP lease renewal (by the router itself)? They appear to be rather evenly spaced apart. RodneySolvedOrbi Blocking Websites - Solved

Hi Community, I have an Orbi RBR50 and Satellite. I recently bought a new appliance that is WIFI compatible but only with 2.4GHz wifi. I went into my advanced settings on my Orbi router and made sure that both 2.4 and 5GHz were checked and active. I tried going through the app of the appliance to connect it to my wifi network but it was unsuccessful. I am not sure how to make it connect to my wifi which only has "one" SSID name even though it's supposed to be both 2.4 and 5GHz. Is there a way to make a 2.4GHz network separately? Any advice would be great, thank you!Orbi router solid magenta (not the satellite)
My Orbi router (not the satellite) stays solid magenta after rebooting. When I login to the router, every parameter looks OK. The router is in Access Point mode and has received an IP address from my cable box. The satellite doesn't seem to have any problem (ring light is off). The wifi connection also works fine. What does solid magenta on the router mean? The Netgear FAQ only mentiones solid magenta for the satellite.Router ring shows purple on occasions
To all in the Orbi community: My Orbi router shows purple on its ring from time to time; it stays that way for a while, but not for all that long. No apparent loss of functionality when this occurs. I'd like to know what this means. Thanks to anyone for their responses. FW: 2.1.4.16 Router is in router mode. Any other information about the router needed, please ask.Solved
