7 Topics'Back to My Mac' and UPnP
I have an R9000 and an iMac configured as a file server. Also have a separate MacBook Pro. I've configured file sharing, screen sharing and 'Back to My Mac', in order to access the iMac when I'm not connected to my home network. It works. However, when I am not in my home network, the service is very slow. I checked the configuration on the MacBook Pro when outside of the home network, and to the right of the 'Back to My Mac' icon (in iCloud configuration), a cautionary message appears: 'Back to My Mac may be slow because NAT Port Mapping (NAT-PMP) or Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) is turned off on your router. Turn on NAT-PMP or UPnP.' My UPnP is turned on. Any ideas for what I might do differently? Any different configurations on the R9000? BTW I've already cleaned keychain, turned Back to My Mac and Sharing off and on as well as re-installed the entire OS on the iMac. I've also attempted to setup port forwarding for every port Apple indicates is used by the service Back to My Mac, which shouldn't be necessary since it uses UPnP but I tried it anyway, without success. Once again, I have the service working - it is just very slow (especially the file sharing). Thanks for any ideas!Solved3.3KViews0likes2CommentsR9000 problem - Cannot connect network drive located on a Mac for use in Plex
Hello. I have successfully set up a new R9000 router. I am unable to connect a shared network drive for use in Plex. I am able to successfully connect a shared drive located on a PC running Win7, but I am unable to attach a shared drive on a Mac running High Sierra. The Genie interface does not give me a specific error. It just loads a new blank page for entry of a network drive. There is no specific info in the log, just that the drive failed to mount. I found one similar thread here, but there was no solution there. I can’t be the only one trying to attach a Mac drive. I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Genie is a disaster! It has been updated now on iOS several times since I installed it on my iPhone and it seams it has gone from acceptable to unbelievable bad. The Genie app on my MacBook Pro is also the weirdest app that you can imaging! On my iPhone 6s with 64GB running 9.3.1 the app prevents my phone from going into standby and creating an extremely HOT phone! What kind of Guiding Light has written that app!!! It can seriously harm your phone! I am really angry about this kind of weird crapp! On my Macbook Pro it is most likely the same. The (cr) app has a huge impact on energy consumption and it sets your CPU in overdrive! I did not check how HOT my CPU got on my MacBook but Netgear should Get rid of this kind of complete obsolete apps! I think everybody that uses these 2 apps should be aware of the damage that it can cause simply by overheating your device! Delete it! Destroy it! Get Rid of it!4.3KViews0likes2CommentsR7500v2 Using the Netgear app on iMac
I am happy with my Netgear dual Freq router. I live in a community that built its own Internet access for residents. 1GB. I get about 970MB down and 980 UP. My qyuestion is about the Netgear app that I can use to monitor the router, change setting, i.e. manage it remotely. I am using it on a cable connected ethernet connection to my router, and the app comes up when I reboot. I really don't need it in the background and whenever I try to exit the app gracefully by clicking on the icon on the upper bar, and selecting exit. It brings up a screen that asks if I really want to exit. I click YES. It never goes away. I finally have to "FORCE QUIT" to remove it. Anyone else know a better way? iMac running OS X El Capitan 10.11.6.Solved3.9KViews0likes2CommentsBest WiFi Signal Strength Analyzer App for iPhone 6 or Mac
I see there is a signal strength analyzer for Android, but cannot find one in the Apple App store. I just want to see if it is worth getting the N300 WiFi Range Extender, since the Master BedRoom (on the far side of the apartment from the C3000 modem/wireless router) has pretty good but not great service. Hello, I just got the X10 and was settying up Mac Filtering on it and found an Issue/Bug with it, after add couple MAc addresses to allowed list and hit apply it comes back with a grey page and does not respond until you reboot the router. Does anyone know what's causing it?Solved3.6KViews0likes3CommentsMac genie installer NETGEARGenieinstall.dmg is corrupt
I tried to install the NetGear Genie software on my macs (both on my iMac and on my Macbook) but whenever I download the Genie installer it complains on 'invalid checksum'. I tried from the download center, from the R7000 support page and ever from download.cnet.com. All same result. Other dmg files downloaded work just fine. I used OS X El Capitan on both Macs. Anyone else with this problem? Any known workarounds? thanks, SnamellitSolved4.6KViews0likes4Comments
